912 Registry Calendar 12/10 1024 x 768 pixels, 375 KB Congratulations to 912 Registry Member Steve Torkelsen of Wilton, Connecticut! As part of the 60 Years in America Celebration, Porsche encouraged owners of cars spanning 12 model ranges to enter their cars for a shot at earning the ‘oldest’ designation originally delivered to America for their respective car model. Steve's was found to be the earliest know 912 delivered to America. Steve writes "In early 1965, my uncle ordered a 356. When 356 production ended, he was asked to switch the order to a 912. So this early 912 has a 3-gauge, yellow-painted dashboard in the 356 tradition. He took delivery during an extended family tour of Europe (June 1965). I was there too, aged 2-1/2." A photo gallery of the Steve's and other model Porsches and car details can be viewed at www.Porsche60years.com.

912 Registry Calendar 11/10 1024 x 768 pixels, 250 KB Roland Heiler acquired his black plate 1968 912 Coupe in Carlsbad California from a neighbor of the original owner. "I came across this 912 on craigs list [2008]. Back in Austria, about six weeks later the phone rang and we had a deal. I found out that a few months earlier he had bought the 912 from his neighbor who was the original owner's widow. I met the lady in 2009 and told her that after a 42 year California vacation the car had returned home. I think she liked that - they had personally picked up the car in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen in 1968. A friend of mine put the 912 on the boat for me and some 8 weeks later it arrived in Rotterdam. So I decided to take the risk and drive it from Holland to Austria - 1000 km on the Autobahn. It did very well (its a Porsche) and used considerably less fuel than our 997 driven back by my wife. First I wanted to save some of the original paint but as I went over the body panels there wasn't much left except maybe the roof. So I decided to repaint the entire body - in original light ivory. In re-doing the brakes and other technical parts I had a lot of help from my friend "Käfer" who was a racing mechanic on the 1970 917 Le Mans winner (No.23, Porsche Salzburg) and who knows early Porsches inside out. For about two months now the 912 has been back on the road and it is real fun to drive. We just came back from a long weekend in Italy - all I can say: its an absolute joy to drive this 42 year old design icon!"

912 Registry Calendar 9/10 1024 x 768 pixels, 305 KB "Sander Maaskant's '68 912 during a trip through the wonderful Belgian Ardennes. Together we made a trip end of July and admired the scenery and wonderful mansions as can be seen on the photo. The Ardennes is a popular area for hiking and watersports with nice slopes and curves. Perfect for a weekend-trip with a fast 912! Compliments for the website, a great source of fun and knowledge about the 912's. Regards, Bas de Rijk."

912 Registry Calendar 8/10 1024 x 768 pixels, 375 KB While on a 2772 mile round trip from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Tony Booth's Bahama Yellow 1969 received a 2nd place in PS02 Touring at the Porsche Club of America 2009 Parade, Keystone, Colorado! An immaculate California car; all original. Tony says "please pass on the news that we 912ers got silver and almost got gold!", and 5/2010 "added another trophy this weekend !. "People's Choice" at the PCA Vancouver Island Region weekend at Black Rock on the Pacific Coast. A 1800 mile return trip. This was against about 70 modern Porsches including GT3 etc., A great feeling ! Also great for our little cars !"
