Jonathon Bartlett's 1968 912 Coupe in California, USA; still original Burgundy, black interior, daily driver, purchased it from a car dealer. No documentation came with the car. But it does wear its original license dealer plate holder from Wester in Monterey. I may be the third owner, as this car was owned by a woman who had parked it in the eighties, stacked boxes on it, and occasionally ran into it in the garage. Jaems Thomsen's 912 in Oregon, USA

Jaems Thomsen's track-fast 1966 912 at the University of Oregon's "infamous" Hayward Field in Track Town USA.   Jaems' 912 R "would of been a similar set-up as Zasada's with the exception of maybe a little higher compression, a little hotter cam and the ride height and Rally lights.  As far as I know, the my car never left the factory with the 911R type tag.  The car left the factory in June of 66 to Skandinavisk Motor, Kopenhagen.   When Walt [Adriance - shop (All German), factory trained and built racing engines for some of the Porsche teams] rebuilt my engine back to factory specs in 2004, he had some of the original parts and knew where to get some of them in Germany. He replaced my heads with NOS and sent them to Ollie's to have them machined to his specs.  My crank was replaced with another new forged one along with the forged pistons and rods and Elgan did a special grind for the cam.  About the only things that were not NOS was the carburetors, coil, CD box, Distributor, and the sheet metal. Now the coil and CD have been replace after the dyno.  The 031 Distributor was completely rebuilt and recurved. We didn't have it on a engine dyno just a chassis one. So at the wheels to the ground which would be the old Euro din hp.  It was a little over 112 hp and about 110 ft lbs at 5853 rpms.   I have no idea what the SAE hp would be.  They thought that it may be around 130 with a good coil.  I know that it will out accelerate a early 911 and a 911T for I have.  But again, I am a lot lighter than they are.  I know that it likes to cruse about 4-4500 rpms.  Which is around 80+ and it still has a lot left. When I put my foot down at that speed.  It will also pull steady from 2500 rpms without feeling like you are lugging it."

Paul Griffin's 912E in Washington, USA near the Canadian border

Paul Griffin, 912E, Washington, USA;  Dorothy, my next door neighbor in Canada bought this car new in 1976 when she turned 60, then proceeded to run it in autocross competition. I used to help her with routine maintenance when I was tuning my '67 Beetle, and we'd share stories of our air cooled cars. She became like an aunt to our family. She passed away in Feb. 09 and left me her beloved 912E, which got tied up for a year in paperwork. During that time we've replaced the interior (vacuumed enough dog hair out to make two full dogs), redone the rear speaker deck and speakers, added electronic ignition. We love this car. It purrs like a sewing machine and is a lot of fun to drive. It did originally have AC but that was removed when it failed. Motor was rebuilt in 2005 and had about 15k on it when I got the car. The interior of the car sure was a mess but its pretty like new now. I've also replaced the Bursch exhaust and added an MSD Street-Fire Ignition which is pretty inexpensive way to get a little more performance and better mpg. (documented here for anyone interested: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/project.php?issueid=15  ) I'm certainly interested in meeting and talking to more 912 owners so appreciate the info and will hope to see you at events in the PNW. Constructed 8/75, still original white, black interior, used for touring; Interests - Events, Touring, Technical, Restoration, Show

Original Owner Phil Martin's '67 912 in Colorado, USA

912 Registry Calendar 1/11
1024 x 768 pixels, 370 KB
Phil Martin, '66 912 Coupe, Colorado: I have owned this car since new (January 1966); it was my daily driver for years, and now is used for fun driving. I've rebuilt the engine three times.  The car is still running great and, of course, is a pleasure to drive.  My wife and I drove it to the Roadrunner Region PCA Fiesta del Porsche in May this year and had a wonderful time (got over 30 MPG on the road).  It has over 375,000 miles on it now on three engine rebuilds. I bought the car new in Albuquerque in January 1966. 912s were just beginning to be shipped and I ordered the car in September 1965.  It was the first 912 in the area and I got a lot of comments and questions about it.  The price tag was a whopping $4995. Over the years, I've modified it a bit with Weber carburetors, an electronic ignition, new interior and full dash gauges (as you probably know, early 912s only came with the three middle dash instruments), later model bumper trim and a few more small items.  It has been with me in moves to Ohio, California, and Colorado, and has been driven in all the western states, and most of those in the southeast and midwest.  It's been a great car and has never let me down.  Now yellow, I had it repainted in 2005 here in Colorado Springs and converted the interior to brown a few years ago (original colors white with red interior).   Interests: events, touring, technical, restoration, show
