The 912 Registry is a non-profit incorporated car club of Porsche® 912 enthusiasts, dedicated to the preservation and documentation of this vintage sports car. The 912 Registry strives to promote the worldwide enjoyment and use of the 912, by all past, present, and future owners, through its publications, web site, technical assistance, driving, competition, and social events. Inclusive and crossing all demographic groups, we welcome everyone with an interest in 912s, from original owners to brand new owners, racers to weekend drivers, from those who once owned a 912 to those who who are looking for one, from the first 912 to the last 912E, concours to project cars. We have a Board of Directors, over 750 paid members have joined, and over 2900 owners of 912 and 912Es worldwide have registered. Origins of the 912 Registry Porsche® produced about 34,000 912s, from 1965 after the 356 model production ended, until constructing their last four-cylinder air-cooled car, a 912E in 1976. Twenty years later, 912 owners were spread quite thin. Occasionally you'd see one on the road, at a car show, or mentioned in print. Since launching on November 15, 1997 on the Internet, the 912 Registry has kept owners of surviving 912s and 912Es in contact worldwide. 912 owners from all over the world began arriving to our web gathering spot. After a few weeks there were ten owners listed. We hit triple digits within six months, and passed the one-thousand owner mark by 2002. By 2011 we reached over 2900 registered owners and associates. We found that there were still original owners around. Some 912s have stayed in families for generations. New owners had lots of questions. Rare and special order models turned up. 912 racecars were still competitive. Cars were becoming more and more collectible. 912s from the United States were being shipped overseas. At the August 2002 West Coast 912 Rendezvous, discussions turned to how the 912 Registry could grow and offer additional benefits for 912 enthusiasts. At the September 2002 German AutoFest, 912 owners were meeting with organizers of other clubs for Porsche® owners to learn from their experiences. By November 2002 our initial band of volunteer board members met to iron out by-laws and practical details. Board of Directors
