912 Buyers and Sellers Beware. The 912 Registry rarely receives reports of alleged problems, but consider these e-mails:

"Hello, I just thought that I would let you know that there is a guy from Africa who is trying to buy cars here and says that he wants to export the cars Africa... He is sending more money than that is required and asking for the difference to be sent to him in a money order, Yet, his method of payment is fake too. He uses a Cashiers Check from Texas, that is no good and he collects the money the difference of it and runs... What I am saying is I wanted to sell my car for 8000.00 he gave me 14500.00 and asked right away for the difference to be sent to him, Yet all the money that he sends to you is no good... You lose when your bank tried to collect the money for the Cashiers Check.... If you need any other information you can call me at 858 270 7260 Steve in San Diego, CA The US secret Service is doing an investigation on this matter now in Africa.... Please post this for everyone to see.... "

"BUYER BEWARE!!!!! I recently responded to an email re: floor pans for 912. The guy wanted $250 plus shipping. I sent a money order to him and was told that the pans would shipped on 9/10 in two packages...I have yet to receive them and no reply to my inquiries to this guy....I have turned this over to the police. [snip] No listed phone number but he gave me a mailing address. If you have been contacted by this guy in response to your want ad....beware. He says he has a long list of porsche parts......"

"I purchased this from *****, the car was rated as 10 out of 10, she is presently off the road as she has cost me 7000usd and another 6k to get home, i was wriped off, car needs another 6500usd to fix her to the condition that was described in the ad, even the mileage was wrong that was advertised as I see he has recorded it as 5k more than what I supposedly bought on this page. Please be carefully when buying things off the internet from people who misdescribe their items, this is fraud."
