If you owner a 912/ 912E, be sure to visit the Registration page, too. From: Joe Roman; Wed May 03, 2000; JRoman@studentadvantage.com; I live in MA
and I have decided to buy and restore a 912 over the next year or so. I have a good
idea of what damages, rot, mechanicals to look for, but what I don't know is which year
cars to look for and the particular problems to look for with each year. Is one year
considered more "classic" or desireable than others? I am currently
investigating a rough '66 912 with 54K on it. The floors, fenders and one door will
need replacing and the rest of the body has some bubbling. The engine needs work,
seats need some reupolstering, headliner moldy, crome rusted and who knows what else. I am
thinking of offering the owner $500 as I anticipate a total restoration being necessary.
Can anyone even tell me if the car is worth it with all the work in needs? From: Vanida5; Mon Mar. 13, 2000; ksikon@aol.com; Hi I have an opportunity to purchase 1976 912e coupe. The owner is asking $5000.00 for it. The body has very little rust but very weathered rubber and paint. It appears to need some interior work as well. The engine appears to be rebuilt but it has been sitting for a couple of years and does not turn over. How can I tell if this is a good deal or not.?? Please e-mail me @ ksikon@aol.com From: mike7lolita; Tues Feb. 29, 2000; lolita@cyberwizards.com.au; Hello 912 reg, Did porsche ever make a 912 or 912E sportomatic ? student from the Netherlands. Because I have to go on a 5 months internship in Australia,
I'll have to do without my much beloved '67 912 coupe. My question is if there are any
porsche related events within the Sydney area during the period of April/ end of August
2000. If there are I would like to know if it is possible to visit this/these event(s).

Thanks, Jeff Gring From: Hubert Robert Cayer ; Sat Oct. 02, 1999; j.cayer@bmts.com; This is a wonderful site. Nice spending Sunday afternoons searching this site . Keep up the good work !! From: Rob Keller; Monday, Sept. 27, 1999; bordog@napanet.net; hi my name is rob and i am looking into a 66 912. i had a chance to see the car today and the interior is pretty beat up. is there anyone out there with parts for this particular vehicle for sale? it needs new rubber first and a driver seat. the passenger floor is rotted through as well. door panels and a carpet kit would get me started. are there any other things besides rust to look for in this year? thank you for your time From: Andrew Walter; Mon, 20 Sep 1999; walters@dellnet.com; Question for the group. I am interested in purchasing a fully restored 69 912. Bottom line is that I am truely incompetent when it comes to car maintaience (i.e. I can find Jiffy Lube, thats about it). Would it be an exercise in frustration to own a 912 even if it was fully restored? In other words, would it be likely that the car will be spending all its time and all of my money @ the repair shop despite being fully restored. I have owned a classic car in the distant past and remember it being a classic pain in the a_ _. What would I be getting myself into?? Any help appreciated!! Thanks. Andy From: Scott; Tue, 14 Sep 1999; Windin1@aol.com; I just wanted to comment on this site. I am looking at buying a 66 912 that has been sitting for about 2 years, carb are bad, slight rust in pan and by heater ducts, but cheap. I have had 944s before and want to try something different. Anyhow, this is a great site for info. in 20 min I have a good understanding of what I am getting into. I will register the car if I buy it. thanks for a really usefull site. Scott, NJ. From: Robert Allred; Mon, 13 Sep 1999; rallred@inconnect.com; My father owned two 912's, both used, beginning about 1976. I have just purchased the second one from him, a 1967 Irish green coupe, which now has 128,000 miles on the original motor. I've placed the car on the registry, and complement you on the excellent and informative website! Sincerely, Robert Allred From: Christopher Aycock; Mon, 13 Sep 1999; christopher.aycock@raycer.com; Hello, I am going to soon be looking at a '67 912, but I know very little about them. So, I went perusing around the net, and came across your 912 Registry page. I was wondering if you would be so kind as to giving me a few hints on what I should look for and ask the current owner? Basically, any common problems with this model would be greatly appreciated, since I'm going into this blind. All I know is that its a great looking car that would be nice to tool around in every so often. Thank you, Chris Aycock From: Julian Falck; 4 Sep 99; nhlflyers@netscape.net; Hi. -This is Julian Falck

Many thanks, Regards, Andy Daniels, IBM Client Executive, Marks & Spencer Plc Tel. 0181 818 5509 (365509), e-mail: daniela1@uk.ibm.com , From: john kara; Tue, 03 Aug 1999; jknapa98@napanet.net; I have recently become interested in the possible purchase of a 912 but know nothing about them. Are they difficult to maintain? Are parts available/expensive? Does the 4 cylinder engine give adequate performance. Do they make suitable daily drivers? Is any year better than another? Any positive/negative comments or words of wisdom would be appreciated. From: Jim Atkinson; Fri, 30 Jul 1999; XChevy396x@aol.com; I recently have been looking at a 1969 Porsche Targa 912. It is black, very clean, 4-spd, t-tops, and 65,000 actual miles. They gave me a price at $7995. I am not a very big Porsche enthusiast, but as soon as i saw this car, i feel in love. I was wondering if you think the price is fair, or i should ask for less. Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you for your time, Jim Atkinson Earlier posting from guests are listed on the Guestbook Vol. 2 page. |
