Gosselin's '67 912From: Kevin Gosselin; Mon Dec 11, 2000; kgosselin@ryanpartnership.com; First, your site is incredible. I love getting in touch with other owners of 912's (the best 356 ever made).  Attached please find a picture of my 67' 912 taken last week in Connecticut. These cars were meant to be driven and used and I hope this picture motivates others to drive 'em. Thanks again for the site. -Kevin Gosselin

From: Philip Daniel Randolph; Tues Nov. 07, 2000 pdr01@csufresno.edu ; I am interested in purchasing a 65-67 912.  What are some of the main areas I should check for rust?  I know that some vehicles are more prone to rusting in certain places.  Your help would be greatly appreciated. Phil Randolph pdr01@csufresno.edu

From: Gayle Gordon; Fri Nov 03, 2000; gayle@3web.net ;Gr eetings, I am considering the purchase of a 912. I believe the year is 1968. It is a Karmann Coupe # 12800628. Paint colour 63-6801-L (red).  It comes with a 5 speed transmission. I am trying to establish whether the original motor is in the car. Should the numbers match? The engine number is 12800575( if I remember properly, I didn't write it down.) How do I tell if the transmission is original with this car? I am considering a race conversion, gutting the inside(except the dash) and installing a cage and racing recaros. The original interior is complete, and in pretty good shape. All the mechanical systems have been redone. Apparently the motor and transaxle were completely rebuilt. ( it has the 4 cyl. ) I am told the motor dyno'd on the bench at 120 hp. but I find this hard to believe. Also the braking system completely rebuilt. The brakes are original and there are 1/2" wheel spacers on the rotors. It has an aftermarket exhaust with headers and two mufflers ending in twin tips with "Monza" on them. It has a wing, it is the standard Porsche wing with the rubber sides. It also has a what is reputed to be a European GT style front end with a cutout for a 24" oil cooler and ducts for brake coolers. It is shod with Fuchs silver on black wheels, I didn't notice if they are alloy or steel or both. The car needs complete new floors and a fair bit of exterior bodywork. A bad body job needs to be undone. It is structurally sound where it counts, susp. points etc... Oh yeah it also comes with a complete new set of front ball joints from Germany, still in the boxes. The original gas heater, completely rebuilt but not installed. A Momo steering wheel and  Monaco mirrors. Both older but of indeterminate age. I am sure the arranged price is a mighty good bargain, and I will be saving it from a V8 conversion. I race Solo 2 on Sundays in a toyota wagon...enuff said. Thank You Very much for reading this far. If you can answer any of my questions or point me in the right direction I would be mighty appreciative. I have dreamed of owning a Porsche since I was a child. ( who hasn't? ) Sincerely Ian Gordon gayle@3web.net     or: ig@cyberian.ca       or: icbm@3web.net

From: Downtown Bible Class; Tues Sept 05, 2000; dbc@swbible.org; I'm looking at a 912E.   Two things I have a question about. All photos as well all 912E's I have seen have small chrome mirrors, and chrome side window trim.  This car has large body color mirrors, and black anodized side window trim.  Was this an original option or has the car been altered.  Car also has electric windows. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave

From: Keith Oelzen; Thurs Aug 24, 2000; kwoelzen@aol.com; Hello, and thank you for hosting this wonderful site.  I have about 2 hours ago received delivery of a 1968 Porsche 912, Karman manufactured, sand beige, showing 68,000 miles (Accuracy of which has yet to be confirmed, but I suspect it to be true).  Just from looking over the site for the last few days: I have already planned for several thousand hours (if not dollars), to be spent in the near future on this exciting new toy.

From: ALEX HERON; Wed Aug 02, 2000; alexjheron@hotmail.com; Hi I live in the UK and I am seeking advice regarding shipping a 912 to the UK.  can anyone help me find a shipping agent(is that all I need) on either coast.  anyone had experience of shipping to the UK or Europe recently thanks in advance. From: Michael B. Harris; Sat Jul 29, 2000; harrism@acs.ucalgary.ca; Can someone please help.  I'm looking at a 67 912 for sale and have a very ignorant question.
There is a lever at the base of the shifter and slightly ahead.  The seller tells me its an overdrive selector and that what seems to be a 4 speed transmission is actually a "5-speed".  I don't buy it, but the car isn't running so I cant check.
So, what is this lever for ?
I appreceate the information.

From: Gielen Gunther; Thurs Jul 27, 2000; Gunther.Gielen@artesiabc.be; Hi, I am going to soon be looking at a '67 912, but I know very little about them. I was wondering if someone (an owner) can give me some advice on what I should look for? Are there any common problems with this model ?  If there has been put in a new motor, what type is preferable? Is a 1700cc enough? What was the original cylinder-amount of the car? Every comment would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you, Gunther Gielen

From: Craig Sweeny; Tues Jul 25, 2000; sweeny@duckham-mcdougal.com; Hello- I am considering a 912 available on the ebaymotors auction site.  The car is apparently 'perfect' except for the rusted out floors.  I was wondering if anyone at this site or related to this site could visit this particular auction and provide an opinion as to the viability of the car for restoration - based on what's shown of course.    p.s. I am new to the world of Porsche so any advice is good advice! sweeny@duckham-mcdougal.com

From: Peperspace; Sun Jul 23, 2000; Peperspace@aol.com; I have always loved porsche's and before I consider buying one I wanted to know what the maintenance is like on an older 911 or 912?  Also, are parts difficult or easy to come by?

From: DylPickell; Sat Jul 22, 2000; DylPickell@aol.com; I saw a 1976 912E for sale a few days ago, I had never heard of, or seen a 912 before so I got online and checked it out and came to your site. After checking around with the owner, I am interested in the car. The owner is asking $7800, it seems in nice shape, and it drives very nice. What do I need to look for to make sure this is a good deal? Any potential problem areas that I need to know about?
Thanks for your time,
Dylan Potter
