Morales' '66 912Morales' '66 912From: Carlos Morales; Thurs Dec 13, 2001; Hi, My name is Carlos Morales. I've had my 912 for about 10 years. 5 years ago I decided to chop the top 3 1/2 inches. These pictures are the result of 8 months of work. I feel that it actually looks better, but I'm not a fanatic.  Currently, I'm contemplating on cutting the top off. I'll probably be done by Christmas. Let me know if you like the pictures.

Plunkett's 912From: Vince Plunkett; Dec 05, 2001; 1969 912 Targa, Manhattan Beach, CA; Fantastic car then...but clear coat lifted just weeks after I purchased? Be careful buying out there!

Taylor's '65 912From: Rob Taylor; Sun Dec 01, 2001; Hi, I just thought I would send you some photos of my 1965 major project that I just purchased. Car doesn't run, needs the front suspension area replaced due to battery rot, needs a passenger side outer rocker and has rust below the rear window, i think I will need all the help I can get! nice to see resources are out available. Great web site! All the Best.

Harrison's 68 912Harrison's 68 912From: Joshua Harrison; Thurs Nov 01, 2001; Hi Rick, unfortunately my 912 has come to an end.... totaled. I flipped it end over end once and rolled it twice, leveling a wooden post, and going through 2 barbed wire fences. I walked away without a memory of the accident, but at the same time without a scratch or bruise. This causes me to request the removal of my 912 from the list. Indeed, my 912 gave its all, plus some, it saved my life. I should not be here right now. It is the 1968 Porsche 912 VIN 12803654. Attached are 2 pictures of the 912. Thanks, Joshua Harrison, Porsche Owner at Heart [Webmeister note: Josh has since acquired a '65 912 he is restoring]

From: Lucy Mauterer;  Atlanta, Georgia; 1969 912 Karmann
Coupe; We bought our car in Houston, Texas in 1979. We were told it came
from California originally. Car is wired (original) as a 911S. Engine and gear box are original units. Engine was rebuilt with TLC in 1980. My husband is a TIG welder and began serious chassis restoration in 1986. Car has over 400 hours of welding including S.S. tunnel, factory front sections, factory inner and outer rockers, and S.S. outer bottom sections. Car is now black/black with turbo black headliner and custom lexan sunroof (probably California origin). Car has no chrome except window frames. Brakes and all Gauges have been updated to later 911units. Most of interior is being done in black leather. Engine is number 4095231. It features biral 1720cc big bore piston/cyl. kit, serious race-ported heads with S90 intake valves, stiffened valve train, 44IDF Webers, complete Stainless exhaust including J-pipes, stainless copy of bursch extractor, and Borla muffler. Ignition system is a Crane HI-6 with pertronix fitted 050 distrib. A full flow oil filtration (Mecca) system was added also. Also fitted is a stainless fuel tank, electric pump, and Bilsteins. This car is very quick and weighs less than 2000lbs. We are looking for other 912 owners in Atlanta.  Regards, Lucy Mauterer

RHD!Damon Harris' 912From: Damon Harris;  !  Hi 912 registry, My name is Damon Harris, I live in Melbourne, Victoria, Austrailia. My 912 was build in 1966 at the Karmann factory. It's a coupe , Gulf blue. it has 122,000 mls on the clock, and has done about 2,000 mls since restoration.  I've been the proud owner of this great little car for a few months. It was originally imported from Home Gardens in California in 1990, restored and converted to right hand drive in 1994, including complete respray, new interior, all new body rubbers and completely rust free.It has a big bore kit with high compression, and heaps of speed. It then sat until i purchased it in 2001.The original Australian owner took great lengths to restore the car back to original condition, even importing original parts such as steering wheel from Aase Bros. in Anaheim, CA. The car was fully optioned with 5 gauge dash, 5 speed trans, rubber buffers on bumper overiders. Still has solex carbs, and original air cleaners.
I'm looking forward to what is going to be a long association with this car, and continuing the same commitment the previous owners had. I'm about to pull out the slipping clutch and noisey gearbox on change downs, and any tips would be greatly appreiciated.  Kind regards, Damon Harris

From: Wim Meijs; Sat Oct 14, 2001; Heel, Limburg, the Netherlands; 1967 912 Karmann Coupe; Car is imported in 1999 from California, USA. Last owner in the USA was: Gregory Wallace Walsh, living in Huntington BH California. Try to get in contact with this person. First owner in The Netherlands. License plates: AH-07-13.  Motor and interior are probably revised in USA. According paint number original color was: Sand beige. The body was probably tangerine painted in the USA. Needs a new paintjob. 5-gear gearbox, No mechanical problems.

From: Bobbie L. ; Monday, Sept 24, 2001;  Casper, Wyoming USA; 1966 912 Coupe; Just purchased my second Porsche. I'm so excited I had to tell someone. I had a 914, now I have my first 912 it is in excellent condition inside and out. Might need a new paint job.  Got a great deal on this one! Needs a little bit of work. Interior has been restored looks great.  Looking at a new set of wheels and fog lights then a paint job. need to find out what color the code stands for so I can take it back original. I think it was silver and now it is an orangey red. Will take pictures and include them next time. Will try to keep the pictures coming as the project progresses. Nothing like a 40 year old red head in a 30 something sportscar. Can't wait for winter to get the project started and complete! Needs some electrical wiring done, the generator is not hooked up.  Need to find out everything I can. wythatgirl@hotmail.com!

From: Stephen Geoghegan; Sun Sept 09, 2001;  Washington/USA; 1968  Karmann Coupe ;  I bought the car from my brother in 1999 he bought it from someone in Arizona. It has been repainted yellow. Engine is part 67 and 68. Has 4-spd trans that needs new syncro. (I would love a 5spd with limited slip). I just took the Solex's off and replaced with Webers. Also putting a .050 distributor on it. My brother owns a Jaguar restoration business in Troutdale, Or. so hope to get some help. It will never be original but it will look and drive nice. I got it for my 15yr old son and we are working on it together. We love it and I have always loved 912s. Does anyone want the Solex's? I need a 050 distributor and rubber weatherstripping. Steve

From: Ken Bowgren; Mon Sept 03, 2001;   St. Charles, Illinois 60174 USA; 1967 Porsche Coupe; Current odometer in miles or kilometers: 17,777 miles indicated (probably 117,777)  I just acquired my 912 on August 22, 2001. The paint number is 6001L but there is not a R in front of the paint code so I am guessing the original color was “Signal Green”. She is now painted over in Brown and I am thinking of taking her down to bare metal and giving her a few coats of “Polo Red” this winter. Overall she appears to be in fine condition and is very “drivable”. I have been searching the Internet for parts suppliers and I have ordered a few catalogs. Let the fun begin.

From: Johnny Graham; Sun Sept 02, 2001; Dundee,Scotland, 69 Karmann Coupe; Sweet red 912 with a new big bore re-build and a pretty good respray in guards or polo red maybe. Gearchange tight and interior and electrics A1. Bundled on to a boat from San Diego to Scotland before it had chance to protest... calif reg. ZHV 425 (or similar) - would like to contact previous owners... Great site - cheers, Johnny

From: Bill Fulton; Fri Aug 31, 2001; Pounding Mill, Virginia; 1966 Karmann Coupe; This car has been repainted a number of times. It is currently Maaco's version of British racing green. It has a 1969 engine with big bores, Weber carbs. It's a fun driver, and not even close to being a show car. But it's loved, and I drive it every day.

From: keith den hartog; Tues Aug 28, 2001; I've just purchased a 66 912. at least it's titled as a 66, appears to have been built in 65. I got your e-mail address along with the 912 registry site from the fellow i purchased it from. this is the info he said you would want to register it. my name is Keith Den Hartog Sioux Center Iowa 66 912 coupe, karman body. vin # is 453818 paint no 310 aga blue.  car is in need of complete paint job, small amounts of rust in floor pans (at least so it appears) might find more when i take it a part. waiting for it to be delivered so i can start on it. this is my 1st Porsche so i would appreciate any info i can receive. i know i'll have many questions as time goes on,but i want to do it right. my first question is although the seats appear to be in quite good shape most of the stitching has let go. must i replace or can it be restitched? also i just want a nice daily driver how important is leaving it original color? thanks for any help keith

From: Craig Pierce; Mon Aug 27, 2001; Covina, CA USA; 912 built in 66 as a 67 model year; Having a great time - your site has been a big help!  Thanks, Craig Pierce

From: Jochen Schell; Mon. Aug 13, 2001; Moerlenbach, Germany. Hi, yesterday I bought a 67' Porsche 912 for my collection and want to participate your registry. It is a coupe without sunroof
The chassis number is 355033. The original color number is 97 621561.
Today it is black. The car was made by Porsche (not Karman) It was originally exported to USA and came back home 1995. The first German owner drove it just one summer and then it was stored since yesterday.  The odometer tells 65000 but this is not real, because the original miles odometer was exchanged by a german Kilometer one in 1995. The original odometer is no longer there. The engine was completely redone 3000 miles ago.
This is not my only old car. I also have a 1947 Dodge Pickup, a Volvo P1800
ES, a Jaguar XKE and several old motorcycles. In summer I use my cars as
daily drivers, in winter they are stored but even then I use them on sunny
days. Have a nice time, Jochen

From: Jerry Lenoir; Thurs Aug 09, 2001; Greatings; car is 1966 built in late 1965, is a Karman coupe, is now guards red,
odometer is 56041 (reported to be orig) Black Mountain NC, USA

I bought the car about 1 month ago had been stored since a complete restoration about 6 years ago, body and under cariage vertualy rust free!
The P.O. had stuck the rear calipers and let someone work on them / distroy them ( drilled holes in the castings to get the pistons out!!!)
I was told of the car by word of mouth as we drive other older imports ( MBZ, MG) around town to see if I was intrested, They did not know I had owned a 58 356 A several yrs ago. When I went to look at the car (with a floor jack) I could not beleave how clean it was! And had to buy it. I am redoing the entire brake syst. and going to tandum master cyl. , the car has some electrical problems related to the paint job as the fuse box was taken out to do the recolor ( tan to red) and about 1/2 is not hooked up and about 1/2 of what is is not right ( fogs come on with parking lights ect.). I hope to be back on the road in 3-4 weeks, finding time is a problem as I was not looking for a car when this was offered to me.
I will spend more time in your site to learn more about it, as well as participate in q & a and would like to post a pic when I get time & a dig. camera. Regards,
Jerry Lenoir
