at a Concours in Colorado, before I bought the car. I have had it for about
a month, and have had considerable work done on it since. The car was a very
very complete car, but needed some mechanical TLC. There was not anything
critically wront, just a new clutch, a grind on the flywheel, linkage
bushings, shifter bushings, oil cooler, new exhaust, etc., etc. SEE

Fri Jul 07, 2002; Hi I have just taken delivery of a 1966 912 to
Dublin, Ireland from California. I sourced the
car through my brother in law in LA.The car is white (originally red) vin
number 453776. It has also had a paint job and an engine rebuild, new carpet
and the dash has been recovered. As far as I know there are only 4 912
in the republic of Ireland. I have found the 912 registry to be a
fantastic site for info keep up the good work.

This is a very early model with ser. #451458. Its 90% original ,with
original paint and interior. The color is quite rare, color code 6403,enamel
blue. The car was purchased by the second owner in S.F. CA. in 1969 and now
has 89k orig mi.The other rare feature is the 4 speed gear box, with hill
climb gears as ordered from the factory. A great car with most of my 30 odd
porsches being 356s,I have to say this is certainly one of my favorites. It
is a recent purchase with the previous owner having had it for 33 years.

From:
Bob Anderson; Wed Apr 10, 2002; Attached please find a photo of our 1967 Sand Beige Porsche. The car is
owned by Marco Anderson but since he was transferred to the UK it has been
my daily driver. My son left it in my driveway when he was transferred
to the UK. I bought the car for him in the spring of 1998 from the original
owner who like my son was also a Cal Berkeley Grad. He told me the car body
was restored in 1994 and the motor had only 20,000 miles on the rebuild. The
previous owner was a college professor who had gone through a divorce and
change of life. Since he and his new young wife were living on a boat
he had to get rid of some of his vehicles.
Since the body was in really good shape I have spend most of my fun money on
the seals of the motor, brakes and shocks. I am trying to fix the pan in the
passenger side so I can re-carpet the car. The upholstery is quite sun
bleached but still very serviceable. Maybe that project can be tackled by my
son if he returns from the UK some day.
The car is used daily to drive from my Walnut Creek house to Bart. Having
the car got me to join the Diablo PCA which has been a lot of fun. The car
has led me to some really nice people including you fellow 912 owners.

Patricia Wheller; Fri Apr 05, 2002; cockney brown 912E, Cordova Tennessee; Hi, Thanks for posting my info on
your great site. I had the car shipped from George Murillo in CA by Able
Auto Transport. They did a good job. I couldn't afford a closed carrier but
that would have been best. I bought the car without seeing it in person.
That tells you what an honest and wonderful person George is . Restores your
faith in people, doesn't it?? The car was chemically stripped and
repainted 6 years ago with a line 22 one step Glasurit paint to the original
color. Any tips on what polishes, waxes etc to use?? Every one has their
preferences. I love the car and hope to have it for many many years. The
next big thing is a transmission rebuild or replacement. Fourth and fifth
gears really whine but don't pop out yet.

Lombard; Wed Mar. 13, 2002; '65 912, Ruby Red, CA USA; This car sat for 3 or 4 years at a mechanics shop
and I've only recently gotten it running. It actually has a 911 2.0L engine
that has been rebuilt and seems to be in great shape. I am now starting to
work all of the bugs out of the car (there are lots!) It has Fuchs rims and
is reasonably straight, although I do plan on doing some body work as time
and money permit. Thanks for the great site!

overhauled, trans axle overhauled, interior reupholstered, leather seats,

rust. Runs perfectly with less than 2k on engine and transaxle.
From: Bob
Harriman; Sun. Feb 24, 2002; I bought my 69 912 for $6,000 about 4 years ago. I live in Victorville,
Ca. Body and paint are in great condition. I put new shocks, ball joints,
exhaust, tires, stereo (pioneer CD), and floor mats. The car is lowered with
Fuchs that are polished. Nitto directional tires look b*****n. Everyone
thinks it's a 911 until I show them the 912 on engine lid. The elevation
here is approximately 4000 feet. I would drive the car down into the Los
Angeles area, but on my way back, the climbing of Cajon Pass, I would
experience some engine overheating. One day the motor started knocking and
before I could get pulled over it was shattered. Cracked case spelled
disaster. I cried while sitting and waiting for a towtruck. Every time I
experienced heat I would take it to my mechanic (HA HA). When I took the car
back to him to rebuild the motor he charged me $5,400.00 and it never ran
right. It lost compression due to holes on pistons, caused by pinging. This
happened twice. That isn't even close to all the problems I had, the list is
too long to even type. Every time the pinging occurred I would take it in,
and every time he said It was fixed. I contacted PCA and they recommended
Andial Road and Racing in Santa Ana Ca. Andial builds all the North American
GT racing engines for factory Porsche. The day I took the car there, Jerry
Seinfield's 2000 cabriolet was getting tuned (WOW!) Andial took the motor
apart and told me my bearings and cam were worn past spec. I only had 1700
miles on the rebuild. Anyways, Andial rebuilt the entire motor. It took 2
months. They baked all the bearings, cam shaft, and other wearable metals to
harden them, which was a timely process. When I got the car back it was
beautiful. The way it runs, looks, sounds, and performs. They powder-coated
the motor, Rhino-coated the engine compartment, and replaced all the
insulation and rubber. (I will send pictures as soon as I get a scanner).
The cost was $6,700.00. It was well worth the cost. I also sued ***** *****
and retrieved $5,000.00 of my money from the first engine rebuild. My 69 912
is now a beauty inside and out. Lesson: Don't hire a VW mechanic to work on
your Porsche. P.S. I can't wait to hang with you guys, I love this web site,
keep up the good work. Anyone feel free to chat with me.

hard on the tranny, but fun as all get out. I turned a 16.8 ET with a really
bad 2.3 second 60 foot time. I wish you guys could have seen this. The whole
crowd was shocked to see a little 912 spank the Z. I have to admit that the

blast. Regards, John Benton

just got the car I have been looking for a long it. It is nearly original in
every way. It was bought in Stuttgart on June 10 1968 @ 12:00 noon and
toured Europe for a couple of months before coming home to live in
California of the next 34 well cared for years. I really look forward to
refining this great car. Thanks for having this site.
There is one thing I want to do right away, and that is to stiffen the
original seats so you don't bounce all over the place. It is so bad sometime
that it becomes a hazard, like on a fast bumpy turn. Anyone here know how to
stiffen the seats up a little?
