From: J.C. Middleton, 12/23; One of last 25 912Es made.  My first Porsche. Wanted one since 15 years old. Now I'm 50. Daily Driver. Interests-Technical, Restoration, Show

George's RHD 912From: Digby George, 11/24; I bought the car just over a month ago from a Mr Carl Turner. It’s a v. rare 1969 long wheel base which is in Right Hand Drive. Due to the most extraordinary stroke of luck I bumped into the cars previous owner who had sold the car to Mr Turner in 1996 at his classic Porsche garage in London where I mistakenly believed his garage was the one I had booked my car into.  Although this is not my first classic it is my first Porsche and thoroughly enjoying it.  Kind Regards, Digby George, Hertfordshire, England

Klockau's '69 912From: Tom Klockau 11/17; I wish I had some technical knowledge to add but I basically fly by the seat of my pants mechanically. I have been a member of the 356 Registry since it was formed in the early 70's. I have owned four different 356 Porsches in that time period. Two 1960 356-B Roadsters, a 1951 pre-A Cabriolet and a 1965 356-C Coupe. I still own one of the Roadsters and it is completely restored. I bought a 1969 912 Targa on October 23rd of this year and have been enjoying it ever since. It belonged to a friend of mine and is in need of tender loving care. I took it for a 60-mile ride in the country yesterday afternoon and was amazed to discover that unlike my Roadster the heater in the 912 actually produced some heat! I will e-mail you some digital photos but keep in mind it looks much better in the photos than it does in person.

From: Carl Henny 11/13; As I am the original owner, I drove the car as a daily driver for the first 16 years, and somewhat more intermittently during the next 12 years. Car has not been operated nor driven for the last 8 years. I hope to complete the engine rebuild by next spring.  I was very pleased to read about the 912 outing in the current issue of Excellence Magazine.  I did see your web site several years ago, but wasn’t sure what you were attempting. I am glad to find a group who care about the 912. I have very much enjoyed driving my 912 when it was running. I hope to join your outing in 2004.

From: Larry O'Rourke 9/08 writes:  Hi Rick, My letter to Jim Schrager and pix of my car were published in the new October edition of Sports Car Market Magazine. This is another rally for us lucky 912 owner troops. Anytime we can get positive recognition is a value boost for our cars.  I will be at the San Diego Region PCA concour at Del Mar on the 21st of this month [9/03]. I will be putting a copy of my letter and of course a copy of our 912 newsletter on my dash to go with my 912 Registry grill badge. Later, Larry

From: Mark Sanders, Melbourne, Australia 8/13; '66 912; My paint colour information plate is missing, so I'm assuming this was original colour. I've had the car for about a month now, and it's only been garaged at my house for the past two weeks. I haven't been able to spot any evidence that the car's colour has been changed. If the colour has been changed, a previous owner has done a thorough job concealing any previous paint colour. Any ideas on how to check this out? Would one of those authenticity certificates through the PCA verify information? I'm pretty sure the car came from the USA, but once again, if it's been converted from LHD to RHD, they've done an excellent job. Thanks for your time, Regards, Mark.

Drake's 912From: Royce Drake  8/7;  Here is a pic of my 67 here in Alaska.   Very good site . . . I check it nearly every day . . .

Freitas' '69 912From: 7/9;  Hi guys! I'm O. Freitas Jr., 912 registry member and a porsche 912 purist.   Here's my nice 1969- 912- targa. Rolling in the NY-MA area. I hope you enjoy lit ike I do.

Scheurer's 912EFrom: Tony Scheurer  6/23; Unfortunately I will not be anywhere near Solvang, CA around those dates. One of these days maybe I'll make it out there just for the 912 Rendezvous!! I wish you the best of luck and hope the weather is great and the turn out is high. As you know, seeing any collection of 912's all together in one place is always a thrill. I have attached a pic. of my 912E with my son, Christopher (at the wheel) and my daughter Lizzy "riding" along. Christopher is 12 ½ and cannot wait to actually drive the 912!! Tony Scheurer - Cincinnati, Ohio

Cotto's 912EFrom: Vince Cotto 5/30; Hi there! I just paid for the membership, and thought I would send a picture to post. I am beginning to bring this car back to its former glory. Almost 300K miles and daily use from its prior owner has taken its toll. I would like this picture up till I am able to do the paint, tires engine, and other needed work. I plan on keeping this “E” fairly stock, with minor upgrades that won’t detract from its value including a few engine updates as this 912 will be driven, not packed away in moth balls! Thanks, Vince

From: Bud O'Lea 5/21; '68 Irish Green 912 coupe; Tustin, California; My wife Jacque and I bought our 912 in 1974. We are the third owners of the car. The car sat in our garage until May of 2002 when we decided to do a complete restoration of our little Irish Green Coupe. The car received bare metal paint and body work at Coachwerks in Long Beach and then a complete interior restoration at Collins Auto Trim Downey California. We decided to stay with the original cork interior color. The car received new leather seats instead of the original German vinyl. Looks great and smell wonderful. The power train was pulled and replaced with a rebuilt transmission and a John Benton 125 horsepower engine. The engine features a full flow oil system, a brand new, new old stock engine case, shasta pistons, new crank and cam shaft and rebuilt Solex carbs. We are running new six inch chrome wheels with a set of very fun Yokohama 195X60X15 tires. It has been a long and fun year restoring Irish. The year long restoration project made the car that much more enjoyable to drive at projects end.

Broach's 912EFrom: Charles Broach 5/15; Registry, I have enjoyed my 912E (# 1481) with its' electric sunroof and A/C with 110762 miles on it very much. I had it painted Porsche Red with both the duck bill and original truck lid. I change to the original lid when I go to the local shows during the spring and again in the fall. The car still gets about 22 MPG in town. I have shipped it to Panama, Germany, Korea and across the US. It is not for sale! Chief Warrant Five Charles Broach

From: Chuck Barker 5/8; Oregon, USA; My bright yellow (later year 911 color) 912 is my everyday auto...I was able to obtain a very original '67, with perfect body, no rust excel engine fairly good interior, orig 4.5" Fuchs, 5 sp, absolutely everything worked, eng v good, trans perf, susp, all mech perf. Paid only $2500, best $ I ever invested. I installed '68 seats for the safety of the headrests, painted brt yellow, traded the 4.5" Fuchs for 6"cookie cutters from later 911, stuffed 225/50's in w/ no modification, and only tiny bit of rub on front tires at extreme turn, inst air frt spoiler frt, new carpets. This car runs like a top, is a constant source of conversation, we had someone wait for a half hour outside a store for us to come out so he could tell us his 912 story he bought after return from Vietnam in '67, we took it camping (packed to the limit) to the outdoor Who concert last summer, we would return to our campsite to find whole groups of people swarming around the 912, all with their stories to tell. I have a '76 911S Targa, and yes, it is immensely faster, and I simply love to drive it, but it is a sunny weather car only, and I would lose my license and be riding the bus if I drove the 911 everyday. The 912 is just a fantastic and fun car, and I have become a great fan. Love to read about them, hear other owners stories (and all owners have one or lots), love to have this as my hobby. Just bought my 15 year old son a '70 914, flared, lowered, Dunlop 50's on BBS, Webers, noris cams, carraera anti-roll bars, that car is a skateboard on wheels. These are cars with personalities which seem to match our own. I wanted one all my life, finally got 3 in the family now. Glad to be included in the family of 912 fanatics also!

From: John L Costello  4/27; '67 912, Lancaster, New York, USA, Car is currently dark metallic green (GM Color) & naturally everone loves the car - "Especially the color". Body needs restoration, but it's so much fun to drive that I don't want to endure the down time!!!

From: Jerry Hansen  4/26; '68 912 Targa, Bought from the son of the original owner 8/2002. Calif car originally bought in Sacramento in Jan 1969. Rebuilt engine and bare metal paint job in 1990.

I've consulted your site many times before buying ma "new 912" with "matching numbers" !! thanks you see you jp bernard

From: Randal Goodman 4/23; Burgundy Red '68 912, Oklahoma, U.S.A.; My parents bought this car for me in 1983, but I didn't know about it until 1984. They gave it to me for my 16th birthday. The car wasn't quite done. My dad and I finished working on the interior. My car was parked in covered storage when the master cylinder went out. My 912 got back on the road in 2000 after being in storage for 16 years. This is a sunny weekend car. I love my 912. I will never sell it.

Schmuecker's '67 912From: Hendrik_Schmuecker 4/21; Please see my porsche 912  built in 1967, it use to run in the USA and was reimported home to germany in 1997 after being 30 years away.;) Built at Kahrmann in Osnabrück. Now it´s porsching in the Ruhrgebiet AREA in Germany.  By the way I´m looking for a Targa 1966-to 1969 , can you help me?  Best Regards

From: Andre Francois a.francois@expertsmaritimes.demon.nl 4/20; Hallo PORSCHE 912 people, I own since 2002 a 912 chassis no.12802672 I bought it from mr.Renes in Vught Netherlands who had imported it in 2000 from the States.  The first owner from 1968 to 2000 was Mrs. Kay Abegg, Huntington Beach California. They seemed to have moved because the export documents ,emtion another address in Tustin, California. I wrote a letter in April 2002 to them to say that they kept the Porsche so well that it is still in new unrestored condition and in good hands now. A pity, I got the letter back from USA mail presumably the address was incorrect or they moved. May be you know this owner because they were owner for 32 years and you can trace for me their present address. I hope so, to get all history of this car. Thanks in advance

From: Keith Price  3/10; 912E, white with lobster interior. I bought the car sight unseen from a ad in Hemmings in the fall of 1997 from a Porsche broker in Orange county. At that time it had 135k and a touchy 3rd gear synchro. I drove it for three Michigan summers, then tore it apart two years ago. I had the trans rebuilt, and I put the original tired motor in a ziploc bag and placed it on the shelf. I'm almost finished with the swap to a 2 litre 914 motor that had come out of a PCA track car. It's got ported heads, fat d'lorto's, a crankfire ignition and a 911 fan/shroud.
I figure I'm going from a tired 85hp to somewhere around 125. I like to think of the car as a 912S, as opposed to E.
It has the original Fuchs alloys, and the whole car is in very good original condition.
Your web site is very well prepared & arranged. Thanks for providing a forum for the 912.
Keith E. Price

From:  Andrew Coetzer  3/9; Just abit of back ground. The 912 stood in a garage for about 3 years before we found her covered in birds dirt and lots of dust. We found her in dec. 2002. I will send a pic. We had to replace the floor boards and all the upholstery. The engine was also in pieces but we able to pick up another one complete. It has a few problems but i'm sure we can fix it. The only parts we are missing are the rear over riders. We cant find any at the moment. My dad, brother and I have been involved with cars for years. My brother started with a Mazda RX7 and then I got one. Now we have four. I then got myself a Porsche 911 convertible ( turbo) in pieces. I still have yet to complete that one. My brother then bought himself a 911 1984 SC. It had rolled on to its side but it can be repaired. Then again anything can be repaired. I then got the 912. And now yesterday my brother and I got a Formula Atlantic Ralt LT1. A real mean machine! We love any sports cars and we get them in any condition! We travel some times 1500 miles to fetch them. Three of them we fetched from Cape Town which is on the other side of our country from us. Anyway thats about it for now. I will be in touch. Cheers. regards Andrew Coetzer

Herrera's '65 912From: Pancho Herrera  2/24; Here's a shot of my recently restored '65, SN#350-314. Car is currently stored in San Luis Obispo, California as I live outside of the country (few "Porsche friendly" roads in Bolivia). Cheers, Pancho Herrera

Dethlefs' '66 912From: Dave Dethlefs  2/15; '66 912 Polo Red sunroof coupe; Just acquired, has been stored in heated basement garage for 17 years, am anxious to open it up and see what I have, more later....... will take it slow and do it right, especially concerning the engine.

From: James Flint  2/13; '66 912, Black, 5-spd; Interior color: Black, Dials: (3), Carbs: Webers, Engine: original 1582cc - just restored; Wheels: Optional chrome w/ non-colored crest; Script: Angled 912 silver. Currently restoring this wonderful example of a well built Porsche car. If it wasn't for traffic in Los Angeles, it would be a daily driver. Keep the faith! Thanks again for your great site!

From: Michael Hodos  2/11; the 1967 912 I've been restoring for the past ~6 months turned it's first wheels on the road today since 1984 . . . and ran very well! I'm now looking forward to attending Bay912 and 912 Registry events starting with the Bay912 event in March. Michael

Baycroft's '67 912From: Sue Baycroft  2/3; I have registered as a paying member for the 1 year membership ... what a great idea and a great way to support our website!! And the idea of getting a "grill" badge too is wonderful.  I'll look forward to receiving the badge, newsletters, decal, and membership card. I am a member of the PCA Canada West Region and always like to support any of our Porsche sites! I love your site and have pictures of my car there already. I get the occasional email as a result of people surfing and finding it on your site.
Just to give you a laugh ... I recently received an email from a gentleman in Africa (of all places) who saw my car on your website and, after telling me he had access to shipping, wanted to buy my car!!! I had a good laugh over that since I'm not at all interested in selling my "baby" and politely told him I was sorry if he got the wrong impression and thought she was for sale. I wished him luck in his continued hunt for a 912 but made sure he was aware mine was not for sale.
I continually get people asking me at red lights if I'll sell her or asking how much for her. It's a nice feeling usually. However, I almost had a heart attack last week when (before I'd even got up to the speed limit) a police car pulled me over with lights and siren going. I was ready to argue if he tried to give me a ticket but ... he said he just wanted to know if I'd sell him the car!!!! After telling him that it's not nice to almost give people heart attacks for no reason I told him that the car was most definitely not for sale and thanked him for his interest. He gave me his card and said to keep it in case I ever wanted to sell her. What a hoot! Anyway, just some humorous times that I'm sure all vintage Porsche owners get from time to time that I thought might give you a smile today. Thanks for hosting such a great site! I'm definitely a supporter! Regards Sue Baycroft 1967 Porsche 912, New Westminster, BC CANADA

From: Piet Neyrinck and Katrien Vanhuele piet.neyrinck@pandora.be  2/1; Hi, Finally, after 2 months of clouds, rain and some sunshine (but sadly not much during the weekends), the weather was fine (well, fine if you like snow, I do) this weekend and we managed to take some photos of our 912. We bought the car in November 2002 from a guy with pockets full of money (He also owns a perfect 356 SC (1965) and a Ferrari Dino (1972 ?).   Some details about the car: The car was imported in Belgium from California in 1999 by the previous owner. (He only drove 1500 Miles with it in 3 years) The car is in excellent condition, it was repainted in the original color (Irish Green) 10 years ago and is still shiny and rust free. The soft window is brand new, the car has Fuchs wheels, is a 5 speed, has dual Webers 40 IDF, Bosch 050 Distributor and has a Nardi wooden steering weel. I suspect it also has a Big Bore kit, it drives great and has lots of power. Mileage shows 88251. I thinks these are real, I have invoices dating from 14 years back and it only had 79019 ml. then.   VIN: 12871059 Engine No: 1284959   Feel free to use any of the photos on your site from this web page (maybe for a winter month calendar) : http://users.pandora.be/piet.neyrinck/P912/page_01.htm
I really enjoy your site, it's great !!! Your site is a great source of information and really helped me a lot (and will in the future) in my search of a fine 912 example. If you ever need a hand with your site, send me an email. I'm a software engineer and have experience in building (database driven) websites (see http://www.rally-action.com  or http://www.anphi.be)
I don't have the full history of the car, I have the names of 2 of the previous owners in California, Ken & Merilyn Kendall from Petaluma, CA and Tony Aniello from somwhere in CA. Maybe one of them still owners a 912 and maybe you know them, if so, I would like to get in contact with them so I can make up the full history of the car. I have invoices from the following garages: The Garage, 2004 Bodega Avenue, Petaluma, CA 94952 Complete Auto Service, 296 Wilson Street, Petaluma, CA 94952 DL Pollard Company, 110 Solane Ave., La Selva Beach, CA 95076 The Beetle Clinic, 1109 SO. Railroad Ave., San Mateo CA 94402 Proshop, 658 Irwin Street, San Rafael, CA 94901 Eurotech Auto Design, 1205 S. Railroad Ave., San Mateo CA 94402
Best regards,

Selger's '67 912From: Gene Selger  1/23; I just purchased a wrecked 912 vin 355317 who gave it's all for a Hollywood Movie. The roof wouldn't collapse so they cut the windshield supports and window frames with a hacksaw. This car didn't die easy.     The Engine runs, started up with little help after sitting for 3 to 4 months. Trans, a 5 speed appears to be good car ran prior to movie. Car still moves under its own power. I was tempted to drive it home but didn't have a license plate.  Original radio, Door parts, no window frames. Hood good. Alloys (4) will check sizes when delivered. Original radio instructions with paper work. Motor number 1280222.   I'm just getting back into Porsche after a few decades. I'll welcome all the help I can get. . Gene Selger

From: Eric Pater   1/23; 912E; California; Car was purchased and loved for 7 years now and going to start a full restore. Original chocolate brown ext., beige int. (need front seat covers), 5-speed, air-conditioning (need drive pulley that bolts to fan), front fog lights, intermittent wipers, rear defrost. Engine runs fair, injection system still intact, but car quits running periodically. Interested in professional engine rebuild (possibly Raby's) , will have fun doing all the rest. Also looking for driver's side rear window trim and gas tank. I have flared rockers to sell or trade, need rockers for the 912E. Great website!
