From: Garnet Wynne, 912 Registry Member, California USA, 1966 912; Still original color, daily driver; my Father second owner. He traded new black VW Beetle and $600.00 for car to original owner (who only had it six months) in early 1967. Interests: Technical, Restoration, Show

From: Wm Washington, 912 Registry Member, California USA, 1966 912; Still original color, used for touring, the original owner took possession of the car and drove it for nearly thirty-eight years; the car changed hands twice during approximately 1500 miles of enjoyment prior to arriving in my hands. She is "a beautiful automobile" as a recent passer-by has observed. I am indeed privileged to own such a piece of history. Interests: Events, Touring, Technical, Restoration, Show

Herrera's '65 912

From: Pancho Herrera, 1965 912 Coupe; While I was perusing my photo files I came to realize that at least 75% of my car photos feature bikes on the roof-rack (like my original calendar shot). The car really is my ultimate SUV!  I bought the rusted hulk out of a back lot much neglected. Red with no documentation...or engine..or interior..or...  Dash was body color and had been poorly converted to 5 gauges. I welded the extras shut and brought it back to it's 3 hole origin, body color, of course. The resto was a big project that continues on. There's always more to be done.  Thanks for your great work with the Registry. The collective principles found here are the true essence of the 912. Pancho

van der Meer's 912From: Marcel van der Meer, restored '65 912 coupe, imported from California USA in 1996 to The Netherlands. "I started with the restoration in Nov 2004, in August of this year [2006] the project was completed. You can see some pictures of the restoration on my website www.deklassieke912.nl  Best regards"

Muller's 912From: Richard Muller, 1969 912; photographed on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia.  I enjoyed everyone else’s photos so much I felt I had to give back.  It strays from original with black anodized trim, pearl paint, 935 mirrors, and 911S wheels and vented discs are on all four corners.  The alloys are coated with black epoxy and hand painted caps and, yes, it’s lowered.  The 616/40 motor is mostly new old stock with only 600 miles since assembly.  A Precision Matters full flow oil filter will help keep it new.  Nice touches include full factory tinted glass, original seats rebuilt and recovered with leather.  New Performance Products seat belts are fully retractable.  The steering wheel is original and recovered with hand-stitched leather.  Cocomats (black with white dots) add a touch of retro. Thanks for all your inspiration and technical advise in getting mine together.

Kai Lindfors' '67 912 in Espoo, FinlandFrom: Kai Lindfors; Finland, '67 912;  Hello 912 colleagues,   This photo you currently have on the website is from 6 years ago, so I'm be sending you a few newer ones, in case you'd like to update.   Some details: Body color originally white, now silver; Karmann Coupe, still with original engine # 756002 and 4 speed transmission; First delivered in California; Factory options: chrome wheels (still got them) and front bumper overriders, radio and one dash-mounted loudspeaker; History known from early '80's  to the present day, nothing from '67 to '84.; The car lived in the Bay area until 1994 when it was exported to Finland; Engine rebuilt by no less than The Maestro, Harry Pellow himself in '86; The archtypical issues that needed work have been done during '00 - '04...new floor pans, suspension rebuild with new dampers and bushes, completely new electric system, interior redone, most of the exterior ornamentals new, and another engine rebuild with Weber 40IDFs + other ancillaries new ; Mileage 80,000 or 180,000 or 280,000 but who cares...the car drives and feels extremely solid, almost like new. An incredible piece of machinery. They don't make them like this anymore. ; If someone who knows anything about the early history of the car i.e. '67 - '84, I'd be very grateful to hear from them! Papers reveal the car as had California plates 2PVZ381 at least during the '80s and early nineties. Thanks for the great work with the website & all!   Kind regards   Kai Lindfors

From: Registry Member Chris Starleaf; Hi, my name is Chris Starleaf and I live in Sheridan, IL.  which is an hour or so Southwest of Chicago.       I've owned my 67' soft window since 1995  and have basically been slowly improving it over the years.   The car has a five speed,  full gauges, wood rimmed steering wheel and fog lamps.    I added the 14"  Fuches wheels myself as the car came with chromed steel wheels.  I changed the carbs to dellortos and the distributer to Bosch .051.  She runs very good,  but I always think she could run better,  and have taught myself how to tune and adjust the carbs..  New floors were professionally installed in 2001 and the chassis was carefully checked for any more rust,  only the rear floor was water damaged.  The front and rear bumpers are painted black?  I don't think this is stock, maybe just an earlier owners taste?   The car was originally red and the present paint is a respray, but very presentable and decent.  I plan to tackle the interior next.  I have a new carpet kit (rubber mats were pulled out in 01')  and just plan on spraying the interior panels black again as they are still in nice shape.  Maybe adding some foam to the inside of the seats to firm them up.  I also have new weatherstripping to replace in most of the car.  I plan to keep the car as a nice driver and touring car.   I'm a member of the PCA and also have a nice 74'  914  1.8    And a 90'  C2  coupe.   Would like to hear from any other 912 owner in the Chicago or northern IL  area.  Regards   ccstar@hughes.ne

From: Royal Dumo, 912 Registry Member, Washington, USA, 912E; Originally sold by Roth Porsche-Audi Dealership in Salem, Oregon. The original owner traded it in for a 911 at the same dealership after 17K miles. The 2nd owner (from late 1977 to July 2006) used it as a company car and daily driver until he retired. He kept in very good condition. Engine was rebuilt in 1984 at 101k miles and car was repainted (originally dark green) to its current color (similar to ice green). It was used very little; touring Oregon during the summer months. Current mileage at 104k miles. I took proud ownership on the month of July 2006.; now in Seattle, Washington. used for touring. Such a fun driver.

From: Wayne Becker, 912 Registry Member, Kansas, USA, '69 912; Now blue, daily driver, 914 2.0 motor w/ regeared 901 5speed. From: Kenneth Saltgaver, 912 Registry Member, '66 912 Coupe, White paint code, essentially the 2nd owner, I bought it from my great uncle who got it from a man who bought it new, but sold it after 1 month because his 2 teenage boys fought over it. He had it 20 years and I have had it 20 years.  It is 98% restored, but because of customizing my uncle did it will never end up in Monterey.

From: David Marsh, Registry Member, '65 912, Michigan; Daily driver, originally black, now Silver metallic PPG Porsche code.  65.5 Euro, purchased in Seattle, Wa. had shipped to Michigan, restored by self. From: Vincent Leon, 912E sunroof, Arizona, USA; I have not been able to decode all the option codes, but the car is original with electric sunroof, mirror, windows, fog lights, AC. I am told by the previous owner that this car was also originally ordered from the factory with rear turbo spoiler (is OEM Porsche), wide fenders, and wider rear wheels and tires.  The car is in near perfect original condition and quite stunning!

From: Robert Hudson, Member,  912 soft-window Targa #19: I think this may be the 100,000 Porsche built. Note build date of 12/19/66 and VIN # 550019. (#100,000 was delivered on 12/21/66) Also there are indications that it was a police car when new.  My car also was rebodied, body shipped 01/27/68 chassis # 13 531 I have a letter from Porsche on this. Also car was owned by Harold E. Fischer a Korean war Ace of note. It is a Euro Car. As for any Mods I have been told they were done out side of the factory. Items on my Certificate that I am told make it a Police car are: Tandem inside Mirror, Seat Frame and Frame Reinforcement, 2 Diagonal Torso Belts. Originally white, now brown, daily driver.  Interests: Events, Touring, Technical, Restoration, Show, Rallies, Autocross, Racing

Boudestein's '66 912From: Mart Boudestein, '66 Karmann 912 coupé, The Netherlands; Hello, hereby some more info about my black '66 Karmann 912 coupé. I purchased the car July last year (2005) from a dealer in Bridgeville near Pittsburgh PA (it was listed on Ebay. I won the auction. So I bought the car while I hadn't seen it in reality!) After a long shipping delay It finally arrived the third week of October in Rotterdam. The first impression was really good! Original tool kit, jack and owners manual were in the car.  I asked CPR Almere (a Dutch classical PORSCHE-specialist) to do a check up and to prepare the car for the import test. The outcome of the check up was:  The car had an original colour (6609) repaint (high quality job!), the front/nose element and front fenders are replaced (the new front element has the hole for the wiper/washer reservoir early cars hadn't). Condition of the coach is very good. Chrome is original and still very nice. The interior is also completely original and still in an extremely good, almost new condition. Original manufacturor mounted radio Blaupunkt Bremen (with all the owners documentation).  Engine and transmission are also original (matching numbers). The extreme low mileage at the moment of purchase (26907 miles) was called correct! But...(there's always a 'but'...) the bottom was in a less good condition. It was dirty and showed some surface rust also. Some former sloppy welding work was discovered (small copper plates were used!). Immediate welding was necessary at two places. At the frontal mounting point with the subframe and at the left rear side near the torsion bar. After this work was done the car went through the import test without any problem. At this moment the bottom is completely redone and prepared. It was totally cleaned first, got an anti rust treatment (with Fertan) and a fresh layer of Tectyl. All hollow spaces were wax-oiled, even the insides of the doors. The car seems fully prepared now for the Dutch climate. Its a great car! I add some recent pictures.

From: Robert Coucher, London, United Kingdom; '65 912, Originally and now blue, used as Street and Race Car, Very original car but fitted with a 1720cc engine, with 44 Weber carbs, extractor exhaust, bucket seats and harnesses, ready for fast road-race use on European historic rallies.  Interests-Events, Touring, Technical, Restoration, Show, Rallies, Autocross, Racing; Technical Committee

From: David R. DeFilippo, '68 912 coupe, Massachusetts, USA; Still original color, daily driver, This is my first Porsche. Bought in July '05. The former owner had the car for about 25 years. The car is a blast to drive. I am enjoying learning about maintaining this car.  I have owned VW's in the past and spent a good amount of time working on them.  This car is a real learning experience and a real challenge. Because of the car it is allowing me to meet an interesting cross section of people with Porsches as a similar interest. Interests: Events, Touring, Technical, Restoration, Show, Rallies, Autocross, Racing, Technical Committee

From: Rusty Herbert,1967 912 Ivory coupe, Houston, Texas.; Member of the Registry, car # 458681 assembled by the Karmann factory,140,000 miles and is currently undergoing a complete renovation as a street/racecar.  Thanks, Rusty Herbert

From:Kai Roessig, Bickenbach, Germany, '67 912;  Hi Folks,  I really enjoy surfing through your 912 registry pages. It's a great resource for getting all kinds of information related to the 912!   My name is Kai Roessig and I live approx. 20 miles south of Frankfurt in Germany in a small town called Bickenbach. I do own a 1967 Porsche 912, which was originally delivered to the US before it came back to it's father land in 1992.  I bought it beginning of 2003 and spent a lot of money on it to get it back to great shape, but see for yourself...   Keep up the great work! Cheers, :-) Kai

Miller's '68 912 SWT w/500K+From: Steve Miller, '68 912 SWT, Nevada:  I purchased my Porsche new in 1968 for $4,600 from Sunland Motors in Las Vegas. I have personally driven it over one half million miles on three engine rebuilds. It is garaged in the dry desert climate, and has approx. 6,000 miles on an engine rebuilt by Meyers Import Service in Las Vegas. Miller's 912 & Cherokee SixI recovered the top and replaced the rear window myself in 1995, otherwise its in stock condition -- paint, interior, etc. I removed the Porsche factory air conditioning system that came with the car when parts became impossible to find. Its a daily driver and performs as faultlessly today as it did in 1968. The only problem I've encountered is locating quality tires equivalent to the Pirelli Centurado's (sp) that came with the car. Photo to right: "The Family Jewels" - 1967 Piper Cherokee Six - 300; 1968 Porsche 912 Targa Photo taken at North Las Vegas Airport in 2000.
