Upgrading with OEM parts when found. Refurbishing what I can. The attachment photo is from the 2010 Winter Park Concours d Elegance; awarded 2nd. place in class.  Found it through internet, purchased from Ohio, to Orlando my home town.  Now red, black interior, daily driver. Fritz Peyerl's '66 912 in Alberta, CanadaFrom: Fritz Peyerl, '66 912, Alberta, Canada; My car had a total bare metal rebuilt and runs like new.  http://picasaweb.google.com/fpeyerl  By the way, The 912 is maybe for sale. I had lot's of fun with it and to many good memories with my late wife. So if you know somebody which needs a 1966 912 tell him to contact me. The car is all original, all the serial numbers are stamped into the doors, fender, hoods. The car was purchased in Germany in 1966 than was moved to California and later on came up to Canada. I have the original Service records from Germany and later on from USA. Still original Irish Green, used for touring; Interests: Events, Touring, Technical, Restoration, Show

From: Edward St. George, '68 912 Coupe, California via France; Still original orange, black interior, daily driver, purchased it from the original owner. We are currently living in France and while I was purchasing a 64' caby the dealer had this beautiful 68' 912 on consignment from the original owner in my favorite Posche colour " Tangerine " it has only 81,000 km and she is so sweet , I enjoy as much the caby and drive her more . Interests: events, touring, technical, restoration, show, rallies, autocross, racing; Competition Committee

From: Andy Boyd, '66 912 Coupe, Washington, USA; Found it through internet, still original blue, black interior, now restoring. The third owner was Paul Hatfield, who bought it from the long-time second owner in 2005. http://www.912bbs.org/index.php?a=thread&t=16755   Paul flipped it; I traded it from the 4th (I'm pretty sure) owner for a '84 911 Cabriolet. According to Paul's history of the 2nd owner and the 4th owner's account, this car has not been wet since 1974 - it has been wiped down with lemon pledge and that's it. Given the condition of the trunk, engine bay, and undercarriage I find this not-impossible; these areas look practically new. However, the car has been sitting and this has caused some issues. A number of the body seals have dried out, and the interior is very musty. Also, the engine pad is deteriorating. I am replacing the seals and will remove the engine pad, and will probably replace the interior carpet with new German Squareweave. I've replaced the shifter bushings; I think this plus a full service (fluids, valves) will be all it needs mechanically. Although it is very low miles, there are some items that look to be not original. As Paul notes, it was repainted its original color in the '70's. The repaint quality was moderate, but I'm working on it. The interior carpet is not original, trunk carpet is. Also, it has a Blaupunkt "Manhattan" radio but no exterior antenna - a wire antenna is taped to the windshield (poorly). Since this model radio is not correct, I suspect a PO installed it. My goal for the car is to turn it into a nice driveable carshow car - I want it to keep the original look but it to be functional and reliable. Interests: Events, Touring, Technical, Restoration, Show

From: David Crow, '69 912 Coupe, Oregon, USA; I met the original owner in 1969 when I moved to Michigan. I don't remember if he bought the car after I met him or just before. I received the car from his widow in 2005. It had not been on the road since 1984. I have been working off and on to get the car back into full operating condition, and to replace parts which my friend had removed and we could not find. I wouldn't call it restoration - that sounds a bit too sophisticated, but since one independent mechanic who did some work on it called it the most "original" older Porsche he had ever seen, I call my work "putting it back into operation." Still original blue, purchased it from the original owner; Interests- Technical, Restoration, Show

Mikkel Jensen's '68 912 Silver Metallic Coupe in Florida, USAFrom: Mikkel Jensen, '68 912 Silver Metallic Coupe, Florida, USA; As far as I remember the car has been in LA, California all its life. I'm the 3rd owner. I think I have some papers at home, but been a long time since I have looked at them. The first owner had it and past it on in his family (Palm Springs, CA) where they put it up for sale. I shipped it down about 3 years ago. Daily driver; Interests: events, touring, technical, restoration, show, rallies, autocross, racing

From: David Jensen, '68 912 Coupe, California, USA; Still original orange, black interior, constructed 1/68, used for touring, purchased it from the original owner. I've owned my 912 since 1992. It was purchased from the original owner who bought it after graduating college. It was purchased at the Porsche/VW dealership, Alred, in Glendale, CA in April,'68. The dealership installed after market a/c (under dash mount). The original owner used if as a daily drive for 2 yrs. After that it was garaged. I followed a similar pattern. It was a daily driver for me the first two years of ownership and since that time has been garaged. The car shows extremely well as an "original" car. It still has its original owners manual, fog lamps, tool kit, spare tire and smog equipment. The interior is the best part of the vehicle. It is all original and show very little wear. Interests: events, touring, technical, restoration, show, rallies, autocross, racing

Ken Saltgaver's '66 912 in CaliforniaFrom: Registry Member Ken Saltgaver, '66 912 Coupe, California, USA; My Great Uncle was a precious gem dealer in Santa Ana during the 50's and 60's. The story he told me was his neighbor bought the car new in 1966, but his two teenage sons fought over the car so much he sold it to my Uncle after only 1 month. The attached picture was in May of 1986 the day I bought it, that is my Uncle and I standing next to the car. By that time the car had about 320k on it as my uncle used the car for business throughout Southern California.   The car was my daily driver for the next 5 years. I began the restoration in late 1991 starting with paint and motor, ran out of money, and finished it in 2004. All of the suspension bushings, tie rods, ball joints, Boge inserts and body rubber seals have been replaced. All of the brake calipers have been rebuilt and the master cylinder and brake lines were replaced. The interior and carpet have been redone to original. Both door window mechanisms have been reworked. The generator has been rebuilt and John Benton built a 0012 distributor and brought the performance up to snuff this year.   As far as unique features, not long after my Uncle bought the car he built, from scratch, an alarm system with sensors on the doors and bonnets and a wireless remote that would beep if someone/something actuated a sensor (he was an electronics buff along with being a ham radio operator). He also wired the car for ham radio broadcast and built a Morse code sender he could strap to his leg while he was driving. He also added a volt gauge next to the starter switch that I replaced with an oil pressure gauge. The car came with clear front turn signals. People kept stealing the chrome hub caps so he etched his drivers license number onto them (you can still see the number on them today).  I look forward to being an active part of this organization.   Ken

From: Krishnan Pablo, '69 912 HWT, California, USA: Found the complete 912 Targa on Los Angeles Craigslist. The car had been sitting for 23 years. The old owner cracked the block on PCH in Malibu. Put it in his back yard & never touched it again. I purchased it for $800 cash. What a find!!!  Originally silver, now red, black interior, now restoring.  Interests-Technical, Restoration, Show

From: 912 Registry Member Tom Granger, '69 912 coupe, Texas, USA; Purchased from Brad Mayeur, 914 Limited, in East Peoria, IL, 4-21-10 and drove back to Texas, no problems!! Car was originally purchased by M.H. Burruss, March 26, 1969 from Mooers Motor Car C, in Richmond, VA. Now white, used for touring. Interests: Events, touring, technical, restoration, show

Stephen Grisanti's '68 Golden Green 912 Coupe in New YorkFrom: Stephen Grisanti, '68 912 Coupe, New York; This is my first 912. I currently own (2) original matching 914-6's. I love that fact that my coupe is a four cylinder and my 914's are sixes. Great small collection. My car was restored down to every nut and bolt. The color is very rare and I'm told that only six Porsches were ever painted in Golden Green. It looks like lime green in certain lights. I just sold my 1986 930 Turbo to purchase my 912. My Turbo only had 29k miles and was in absolute perfect condition.  I have been a Porsche enthusiast since I was eleven when I had my first ride in a Ravenna Green (Lime Green) 914.  I purchased it from a Exotic Classics in Long Island New York.  My car was restored in California by Vintage Excellence.  All photo's of the restoration are documented on the Vintage excellence site.  Still original Golden Green color, used for concours; Interests: events, touring

From: Michael Dillard, '67 912 Coupe, Oregon, USA; My 1967 912 has been in our family for 40 years. I've owned it since 1985 when I bought it for $5,000 from my dad. I'm the third owner. My dad bought it in southern California in 1970 from a woman who drove it out from Dallas Texas to LA. I had the body stripped down to metal and repainted (original color) in 1986 and since then have used ii mostly as a weekend car. In the late '90 the engine we rebuilt. During the last 10 yrs. I've driven it less than a thousand miles a year. While I've never "restored" the car as such, both my dad and I have taken good care of it. But in the next few years I would like to undertake some "restoration" work to get her looking closer to new. I also think it would be fun to attend some of the registry events to see what others have done to restore their 912s. Still original blue, used for touring; Interests: Events, Touring, Technical, Restoration, Show

Roland Heiler's '68 912 Coupe in AustriaFrom: Roland Heiler, black plate 1968 912 Coupe, Salzburg, Austria; Bought the car in Carlsbad [California] from a neighbor of the original owner who had picked the car up together with his wife at the factory in Zuffenhausen in 1968. Still original Light Ivory paint, used for Touring. Interests-Events, Touring, Technical, Restoration, Show

From: Registry Member Greg Walsh, '68 912 Coupe, Florida, USA: It was a Father's Day present three years ago [2007]. It had some rust but new floors and not too bad. A nut was lodged in between #2 piston and head and cracked the piston and would only partially turn over. It runs good now however. Now red, daily driver; Interests: Events, Touring, Technical, Restoration, Show; Technical Committee

Vratislav Blazek's 912E in the Czech RepublicFrom: Vratislav Blazek, '76 Burgundy Metallic 912E, Praha-Vychod, Czech Republic; Now restoring.  I bought car in Liverpool and driving it 1700km to Prague, first repair was clutch replacement last week, now I'm ready to buy new exhaust and headlights (eu version). Car is without original injection, there are weber carburetors as in old 912 non E. This will be project for next few months (if you have some nice source of spare parts I'm more than happy to use it). Interests: technical, restoration, show; Technical Committee

Justin Cepelak's '68 912 in California, USAFrom: Registy Member Justin Cepelak, '68 912 Coupe, California, USA: Found this one out in the desert. History is vague, but I'm getting to know the car through various minor restorations I'm working on. Now white [originally dark green metallic], I don't know yet if I'm going to own the 912 long enough to paint it back to original. If I did keep it for a while, I would do that eventually as I love the idea of it in metallic green, and the current white paint is getting chippy. I think it was a special order, because it also has a brown (saddle color) interior with tan carpet. Some of the stuff is not original anymore, of course, but I'm trying to remedy some of that. I have gotten tons of help from the BBS already, and it is an amazing resource.  I may be a short term owner since we are starting a family and this is not a family car. It's my dream car and I wanted to live the dream for a year before getting my practical dream car.  The car is running great now and I think I'm done messing with it for a while now that we have a baby on the way!  daily driver; Interests: events, touring

From: Jonathan Rey, '69 912 Coupe, Florida, USA: Purchased my 912 six months ago [2/2010] in Miami, Florida and personally working on the car during the weekends to bring it back to original show quality. Drives amazing!!! the more i drive it the more i love it. Still original color, now restoring; Interests: events, touring, technical, restoration, show, rallies, autocross, racing

From: Oscar Romero, '67 912 Coupe, California USA; Just purchased on Dec 2009. Got it from a good friend from Japan that was living in USA for few years. Although he used to drive it on a daily basis...I prefer to start working on some restoration projects before I start driving it. Now white, now restoring; Interests: technical, restoration, show; Technical Committee

From: Peter Fletcher, '68 912 Coupe, Wrexham, Wales; Just completed my first road rally " the Three Castles" in rural Wales came 65th out of 130 not bad considering we didn't know what to do. Still original orange, used for touring; Interests: events, touring, technical, restoration, show

From: Adam Connelly, '68 912 Coupe, California, USA; I picked this car up in Stockton, CA August 15, 2010. It had been owned and driven in the SF Bay Area by the original owner, who sold it to her brother some years later. He drove it until 2007, when he parked it in a garage in Stockton. Overall the car has been very well taken care of, and is in fine "driver" shape. It was easily revived and put back on the road after I bought it. I plan on keeping it original and as-is externally, making a few mechanical improvements, and driving it on weekends, CA rallies, tours, etc. Still original red, used for touring; Interests: events, touring, technical, restoration, show, rallies, autocross, racing

From: Barry Fell, '66 912 Coupe, Pennsylvania, USA: Still original red, daily driver; 5 Year ground up, rotisserie restoration. Autocross whenever I get the chance and try to drive it at the car's limit, which is still beyond my driver skills. Feel it's meant to be driven and not be a garage queen, just because it has a new paint job; Interests-Events, Touring, Technical, restoration, show, rallies, autocross, racing

From: Jonathan Livesay, '66 912 Coupe, Ohio, USA; I've raced 944s and a Boxster S in the SCCA Runoffs. Buying this 912 was the best thing I've ever done. It's so underpowered but light and fun to drive! Still original light ivory, used for touring. Interests: events, touring, technical, restoration, show, rallies, autocross, racing; Technical Committee

From: Marc Houle, '66 912 Coupe, Alberta, Canada; Found in Yorkton, Saskachewan. Now on a rotisserie, engine and tranny are redone, floor, interior, body in progress. Still original black color, now restoring

Chris Pomares' '67 912 CoupeInterior of Chris Pomares' '67 912 CoupeFrom: Chris Pomares, '67 912 Coupe, California and Colorado, USA; Dean Polopolus in Temecula, Ca put me in touch with Craig Smith in Morro Bay, Ca. I have talked to Dean about his motors for many years off and on. I asked if he new of a nice car that wasn't on the market yet. I was willing to pay for a VERY nice driver. I was in the market for a 356, 914 or 912. I contacted Craig. He had kept track of a 1 owner car for many years. He bought it to turn it as he is mostly a 356 guy and already owns several very nice cars. From the time I asked Dean to buying the car maybe took a month. In the 70's and 80's I've had a 58 normal, a 59 Super with knockoffs ($1400)a 73 914 2.0 and a 70 914-6 with a 2.2S. I've never owned a 901 based car. I'm really looking forward to the experience. Projects? 3 point belts, North Hollywood volt and oil pressure units in the fuel level and oil temp gauges, perfect matching 356 headrests, 5 6x15 Fuchs to replace my reproduction wheels. That's about it. Just signed up with PCA, again. I live in both California and Colorado. Still original Bahama Yellow, used for touring; Interests: events, touring, technical, restoration, show, rallies, autocross, racing

Love it.   Daily driver; Interests: events, touring, technical, restoration, show. Bill, Blue Mountains, Australia.

From: George Malos, '66 912 Coupe, Illinois, USA: Purchased new in Sept. 1967 used daily until 1971, then into storage Restoration started in May of 2009 May of 2010 approx. 40% complete Color to return to Lime green as painted in Feb. 1968 when after the dealer and distributor then offered to pay a portion of a repaint because the front hood and fenders had been damaged in shipment, and repaired to orginal color "Polo Red" and the repair had developed a series of blisters. I added additional funds to change the color to lime green. I January of 1968 I had the dealer install a clock VDO to the dash as I required one for daily use. The 912 has remained in stock form except for the replacement of the exhaust system which I changed to a Bursch (4 into 1 ) system. Now green, now restoring; Interests: technical, restoration, show

From: Bruce Schmid, '66 912 sunroof coupe, California, USA; This was a barn find without the barn. Car has been dry stored since 93. Matching #'s with a big bore kit and Weber carbs. Still original red, now restoring; Interests: events, touring, technical, restoration, show

From: Jack Witherspoon, '67 912 Coupe, California, USA; Still original Silver! Great website - can't believe that I found it! I've had my 912 for 16 years now, and I believe I'm the third owner. The original owner used it for rallies, as there are still plaques on the dash. I just completed the second restore (5/10). When I originally bought it, it was a true rust bucket, with a hole at the bottom of the rear glass that I could put my hand through. I recently had to pass on my Civic commuter to my daughter (just got her permit) and are now using the 912 as an everyday commuter car. Interests: events, touring, technical, restoration, show, rallies, autocross, racing; Technical Committee

Steve Maimone's 8th 912E, in New York, USAFrom: Steve Maimone, very early '76 912E, New York, USA; I was driving a Boxster for a while and just had to go back to the E [this is his 8th 912E].  West coast car now in up state New York. [PO: The car was originally sold at Carl Carlsen Porsche in Palo Alto CA. in Oct of 1975 with 51 miles on the odometer.] Now yellow, used as a Street and Race Car . Interests- Events Committee

Keith Sweeney's Gulf Blue '66 912 in Ohio, USAOriginal red interior of Keith Sweeney's Gulf Blue '66 912 in Ohio, USAFrom: Keith Sweeney, '66 912 Coupe, Ohio, USA; Still original Gulf Blue, found on Craigslist after 30 yrs storage. One original owner (Russell Stone) and is all original. Red interior. 5 speed.  The original owner of this '66 912 purchased it and kept it in Cincinnati Ohio from new and also it was stored there. The motor was rebuilt around 1980 by a local specialist at the time named Slim Helson from Milford Ohio and the rebuild required a new crankcase and was also fitted with a special camshaft at that time the new crankcase is unstamped and I don't know what would have happened to the original. Other than the engine parts however the car is very original including all original paint, interior etc. I have not attempted to start it yet but the motor does turn by hand. now restoring; Interests: events, touring, technical, restoration, show, rallies, autocross, racing

From: Registry Member Stephen Sobieski, '65 912 Coupe, Virginia, USA; Purchased in June 1993 from Classy Chassis in Los Angeles, CA. It was originally identified as a 1966. It wasn't until recently (within the last 2 years) that I realized it was a 1965. It's just sitting in my garage while I wait for a big bag of money to show up outside my front door so that I can get it back on the road again. I check each morning, but so far no luck. Now white, now restoring; interests-Technical, Restoration, show

Rick Cool's very rare Turkey Green '69 912 in Virginia, USAFrom: Rick Cool, very rare Turkey Green '69 912 Coupe, Virgina, USA; I don't have a long history, besides what I learned from Dave Frey (PO).  I believe he said he found it near Atlanta and brought it up to Maryland. My car shows evidence of having had some form of aftermarket air conditioning system, now gone.  The bottom end of my engine did not look to have ever been apart and it was leaking like a sieve.   My spare 67 engine is in now while the 69 is being rebuilt.  Many other things have been changed, but fortunately, not the color.  63-6831-L is the paint code for Turkey Green, sometimes called Turquoise Green.  Looking at Ron Bateman's car, his looks much more like turquoise than mine.  Mine looks more like the flag of Turkey.  See attached picture

Gregory Kellogg's '69 912 in Alaska, USAFrom: Greg Kellogg, '69 Ossi Blue 912 Coupe, Alaska, USA; I have owned this car since 1984 and am the 3rd owner. I purchased it in Seattle and brought it to Alaska with me in 1995. Unfortunately the very short "summer" season and poorly maintained roads means I have to only add fuel once a year. From: Wade Douglas, '66 Karmann Coupe, California, USA; Still original light ivory, black interior, straight body, small amount of rust perforations in usual places but none in pan, acquired more than 25 years ago [about 1985] for $250 with blown clutch; stored in my garage ever since & I've recently decided to get busy & finish it. Rebuilt engine [about 1995] to concours standards w/big bore & 3/4 race aftermarket cam. It's been mounted on an engine stand since then. Original factory front sway bar (seldom seen), all its original sheet metal, except for engine lid (orig had karate chop). I'm now retired and about to finally resume restoring the slant script coupe. I've never driven the car! Interests: events, touring, technical, restoration, show

From: Registry Member Michel Starling, '66 912 coupe, Australia; Advertised in online site. Found in a garage with a 26000 mile 914, as well as a 356 roadster. Bought June 2009. Francis Penn's 912E (#0011) in California, USAFrom: Registry Member John Hughes, first production 912E, Washington, USA: Aric [Gless] told me the day I joined the Registry that I am the proud owner of the first production 912E. I've been a Porsche fan since a stint in Germany with the Air Force in the 1960s and this is my third one -- and the most wonderful car I've ever owned.  I'd love to write a piece about #11 for the newsletter when I can catch some spare time. Guard's Red, used for concours; purchased 6/07; Interests: Technical, Restoration, Show, Information/Newsletter Committee

Don Weaver's very early '67 912 SWT in North Carolina, USAFrom: Don Weaver, very early '67 912 Soft-Window Targa, North Carolina, USA; still white, now restoring, needs paint.  I have the original 912 service book which shows it was delivered to a Walter Wanger of Woodstock Illinois in Florida by Orange Motors of Miami Florida on April 21, 1967.  Walter must have been an enthusiastic owner as his name appears in the Porsche Club of America 8th Treffen to Stuttgart pocket guide held Sept 17 thru Oct 8 of what year I am not sure.  My neighbor and friend Michael Mauney bought it from his widow, Louise Wagner in the Chicago area about 1980 and has owned it ever since.  Last week [5/2009] he sold it to me. The engine turns over freely but I have yet to start as first I have to figure out how to drain about 1/2 tank of 2 year old fuel out of the tank!  It has lots of surface rust but other than the area in front by the tow hook there are no real holes rusted in the sheet metal!  The oil smells like gas so I plan on rebuilding the Solex Carbs and painting the original Light-Ivory code 131 back on and keeping the car as original as  possible.  Believe miles are original 99.9 % complete; Interests: technical, restoration, show

From: Jon Vonk, '67 912 Coupe, Oregon, USA: Found in a canvas garage of a neighbor hidden from view but visible from the kitchen window the whole time! Been sitting since 1991 under a cover, high end paint and interior in the 80s. Very presentable car overall- Only 5k miles since 1988. Only 101k original miles on car, 10k on new motor. Very little rust, one tiny bumper ding, one repaint in original [Polo Red] color, paint is ok for daily use. Bought Feb, 2010 - Took a month and a half to get it running and driving- currently daily driver... We will never sell it!

Oliver Melton's black '68 912 coupe in Nevada, USAFrom: Oliver Melton, '68 912 coupe, Nevada, USA; still original special order black color, now restoring, I bought my 912 from an auto consignment shop in Arizona. I know from my title/DMV records that it was shipped from Stuttgart to Florida back in '68. It then moved to Arizona, and now I've got it [Nevada]. With a few exceptions, the front seats being most notable, it's sort of a time capsule car. With its low mileage, very little has changed since the 60s. I've owned it since late 2006 and am steadily dressing it up. At present, I've added a new gas tank, fixed the front and rear lights, and rebuilt the fuel pump.   Interests: events, touring, technical, restoration, show, rallies, autocross, racing; Information Newsletter Committee

Registry Member David Mauk's '69 912 rare Canary Yellow Coupe in Colorado, USAOriginal sticker for David Mauk's special order Canary Yellow '69 912 CoupeFrom: Registry Member David Mauk, '69 912 rare Canary Yellow Coupe, Colorado, USA; My father-in-law was the original owner of this car.  He special ordered it from Germany.  It is original color and the color code is on the plate on the door jamb.  The car had been sitting in Virginia for the 15 years.  My father-in-law heard that I liked to restore cars (VW bugs) so he asked me if I wanted it.  Of course I wanted it so he gave it to me for $1 in 1995.  I spent several years restoring it.  I finished it a few years ago [2007] and it looks great.

From: Registry Member Terry Fisher, 912E, Georgia, USA; Bought a 912E new in 1976. Searched for my second 912E after 34 years! Friend of my daughter had to sell it, she was moving to Manhattan, NY. Just bought it on 4.11.2010. Still original black, used for touring; Interests - Events, Touring, Technical, Restoration, Show

From: Registry Member John Rotner, '69 912 Coupe, Arizona, USA; Original owner- have owned it for 41 years- weber carbs, 1750cc engine. I bought my 1969 912 new in 1969.  The body and engine are in excellent shape. We have rebuilt the engine twice and the interior needs a lot of work. I paid approx. $5600. for the car new. The car has been driven around the country and we will never sell it. Interests - Events, touring, technical, restoration, show

From: Registry Member Endre Sipos, '68 912 Coupe, Bergen Norway; Now white, now restoring; My 912 is now being restored in Norway. It was imported from California in 1998. I`ve tracked down the Norwegian history. I`d like to find out who the previous owners were and the US side of the cars history. I think the car was located somewhere in Napa Valley. Interests: Technical, Restoration, Show

From: Registry Member George N. Malos, '66 912 Coupe, Illinois, USA;  Let me introduce myself.  I own a 1966 912 Coupe that I purchased new in the fall of 1966 and drove the car for about 5 years on a daily basis, and then put the 912 in storage until the past May. Thirty Five years, plus or minus is a long time, but life just happened to get in the way.  I have undertaking the process to restore the car, and I am now at the point where the mech are out and the restoring has begun.   I live live in rural northwest Illinois and am a member of PCA since 1969, Chicagoland chapter.  II look forward to communicating with other 912 owners, as I will most likely have many question during the restoration.   I look forward in communicating with you and others in the registry   Respectfully, George N. Malos

M. Lee Hartman's 912E in Arizona, USAFrom: M. Lee Hartman, 912E, Arizona, USA ; love this car; she is just wonderful..I have always loved Porsche since I was a young adult in New York. originally wanted a 356, but my father said no. When the 914 came out I thought it was a really nice car with the pop-out top and the 4 cylinder; again my father said no and bought me a Camaro. Oh well. When I was up in Boston being post educated I purchased an MGB, liked the car and purchased another, but it still was not a Porsche.  When I finally got to California in 1976,  I finally bought MY porsche. Originally purchased in Southern Calif. from Ogner Porsche. Two friends of mine bought 911's on the same day I purchased the 912e. I fell in love with the color (sea foam) and had no idea she would be with me forever. This car was driven everyday for a long time even though I had other autos. The 912E drives like a dream. The 4 banger gets great mileage;  30 plus on long trips and great mileage in town as well while the looks, questions and compliments I get are just wonderful.  A few years ago I decided to keep this car forever and decided to do a restoration with Jack Doverspike from Stuttgart Southwest in Tempe, Arizona. He is one of the finest Porsche gentlemen I have ever known. He has taken great care of me and my car and never taken advantage. I have restored the paint to original and only the front seats needed recovering. I have also added matching mirrors and pop-out rear windows for myself; other wise this car is just every thing I have ever wanted in a friend and auto. She has always gotten me where I am going and never let's me down; all the while looking great.   The car then looked so wonderful, I decided to rebuild the heads. I have never looked back. I did remove the air, because it was just a pain to keep up and I do not really use this car that much during the summer; but it would not make a difference here in Arizona with the temps over 100 plus. Driving around the rest of the year is what this car was made for. Air-cooled were never made to run in these temps anyway. My SUV has two a/c's and the Porsche stays in the garage covered. I do run her up the beeline highway on early Sundays morning to keep her happy. I have driven this car for 30 plus years and 265,000 miles and have loved every mile. hopefully instead of a casket I can be buried in my car. my plates say MY JOI...

From: Registry Member John Shotton, '67 912 Coupe, Kent, England; Now green, daily driver. I am restoring the car and want to put the original colour back on it. UK in Reading tell me that they dont do a COA and have told me the chassis, engine and gearbox number and that the paint was blue but no paint code. the paint code is a bit odd, it reads 79-310-G. Porsche UK have clarified that it is a VW code L360 Sky Blue.  It was blue since, stripping out the interior this can be seen under the interior trim on the parcel shelf (the outside is said to be smyrna green and is rough)  I can now get on and have it painted: windows and sunroof out etc . Hopefully the 912 registry grille badge will arrive in time to finish it all off; Interests: Technical, Restoration, Show

From: Registry Member Greg Sell, very very early 1965 912, Pennsylvania, USA; My friend Rick Ferguson had the car and was having work done but the gentleman that was working on it had continuing health issues. Rick decided it was best to pass the car onto me rather that have it continue to lanquish. The car is a practically rust free example with a rebuilt engine by Duane Spencer.  Interests: Events, Touring, Technical, Restoration, Show, Rallies, Autocross, Racing, Technical Committee.

From: Gianmarco Mangili, '67 912 sunroof, Italy; still original sand beige color, used for touring; I purchased the car in march 2008 looking for a historic car to own and to care for. It is a USA car that returned to Italy in 1990. It was already slightly restored at that time but It was again in need for restoration: it had some minor rust issues in the classical body spots (no structural or heavy rust) and was painted silver grey (and I want to have it back in the original sand beige); it also required a fully interior restoration being not loverly cared by the previous owners. I also went through a complete mechanical review (fixing some oil leaks, engine tune, new clutch, new koni dampers, etc). The Odometer reading is not the actual mileage since in the 90's the device has been changed turning it to km since may 2009 the car is finished and I've used it for some tour in the north of Italy enjoying it very much. It has the front sway bar installed and I really love to drive it in the swinging roads of the Alps with the sunroof open !! thank you for your effort, this is a great site for a 912 enthusiast! Interests: events, touring, technical, restoration, show

Jeff Lippencott's restored '68 912 in CaliforniaFrom: Registry Member Jeff Lippencott, '68 912 coupe, California, USA; Here is a picture of my finished 1968 912.  It was an 8 month restoration of engine, transmission, paint, body and interior.  I pulled the car apart myself including engine and transmission.  I sent the engine and transmission out for rebuild.  It then went to paint, body and interior.  I put most of the car back together myself saving everything original that I thought could be salvaged and replacing what couldn't be salvaged.  This is a one family California car.  I purchased it locally from a women who inherited the car from her aunt who bought it while in Germany and had it shipped over to the U.S. in 1968.  I found it garaged but not running.  The women I bought it from grew up in the car and even remembers riding in it as a young child.  It is now fully running and operational. Still original color, used for touring. Interests: Interests - Events, Touring, Technical, Restoration, Show, Rallies, Autocross, Racing

From: John Nestor, 912E, California, USA;  It's red and my dad and I bought it used in 1976 at Cutright Porsche-Audi in Santa Monica, California.  The only way we could afford it then was to split the astounding $310 monthly payment!  Boy have times changed!  We took turns driving it for a few months at a time and it always ran great and still does.  Anyway, while I have since had other Porsches I always kept this one for sentimental reasons.  It has been stored in New Mexico for the last twenty years and is now in California again.   I'm an engineer and a do-it-yourselfer.  Part of the enjoyment of Porsches has always been to work on them myself.  I'm working on a procedure now for modifying 911/912 front suspension to use greaseable polyurethane bushings.

From: Bernard Korth, '66 912 Coupe, Washington, USA; I have owned this car since 1988.  It is all original, a four speed with original Solex carbs.  Car was re-painted in 1984.  It had new floor pans installed in 2004.  Car is very clean and only used seasonally on local PCA drives.  I am the third owner.  The second owner purchased the car in 1970.  All receipts from 1970 on with car.  I would like to see my car posted on your list of owners.

From: Donald Tydeman, '68 912 Coupe, New York, USA; Restoring '68 to great driver (at least that is the goal). Rebuilt front and rear suspension, complete brake system rebuild, new factory sways, re-undercoated, sound proofed interior (Dynamat on floors and doors). Now rebuilding motor with plans to have on the road by Memorial Day. Just hope it is THIS (2010) Memorial Day!

All the "S" sill trims on the car are original period US fitments...as I have the original bill for them... Used for touring, Love my car..also have an '03 911 C4S...as well...!! looking forward to getting my membership stuff and grille badge... owned since 2006, restored in UK 2004. Bought because my '76 911 was stolen !

From: Registry Member Aivars Smildzins, '67 912 Coupe, New Jersey, USA;  Advertised in local newspaper I purchased the car in Sept. 1977, titled with 121,332mi on it Jan 1978, retitled and registered in 1991 because of a 100% color change [sand beige] to Guards red. It required a complete 13yr 'rustoration'. Since then I replaced with new: rack and pinion steering, gas tank, o.e. 16mm frt sway bar and 15mm rear sway bar, weltmeister adj. rear spring plates, minor engine rebuild, shift bushings and couplers with aftermarket parts. Presently car not running, awaiting 'freshening' (Feb. 2010).

From: Peter Graham, '68 912 Coupe, North Carolina, USA; purchased 1995 in Atlanta, GA.  Structural rust repaired (front suspension pan, front crossmember).  All mechanical systems rebuilt/refurbished with the exception of transmission which is original with new shift/half axle seals.  Engine was rebuilt in 2000 after crankshaft broke into three pieces.

From: Jeff Bartik, '69 912 Coupe, California, USA; My father in-law purchased his Ivory colored 912 in 1969 for $6,023 from Aero Volkswagen/Porsche dealership in Inglewood, CA.  My wife and I took ownership in 1983 and drove it until 'retiring' it to the garage in 1988 where it's been sitting since.  Your website pushed my hot button to get the 'old' Porsche up and running again. [Dec 2009] I called AAA and had them tow the car to our local Porsche repair shop. Except for a little rust at the bottom of the driver side door, the exterior is in great shape. There are a few interior tears, but shouldn't be a major task to replace/repair. I'll have a better idea about the engine in a few days.  My website, www.1969912.com , is an attempt to keep friends and family updated through the process. I plan on having video, too. Glad I found this wonderful website. Thanks, Jeff Bartik

From: Ricky Phillips, '65 912 Coupe, Florida, USA; Just purchased (2/2010) being delivered from Ohio, to Orlando my home town. The journey towards improving  continues.
