There is minor rust in several areas of the car. Inside door had some rust due to the window body gaskets being bad allowing rain to fall inside and apparently staying for a long period. Thankfully the damage is minimal. I am trying to repair all dings and getting the body in good condition. I have been sanding and repairing and using rust inhibitor as I clean and restore each section of the car. The engine runs and is still strong, but needs a lot of TLC. Now Black. Now running Shasta p/c set to 10:1 comp ratio w/Norris 3375 cam, 009 dist, Dellorto carbs w/K&N's and a rebuilt tranny. Running early 6" Fuchs alloys w/Sumitomo HTR 100 205 60's. Seats were replaced with FloFit seats out of an early '80's BMW (highly recommended switch by the way). The rest of the interior is basically stock & in decent shape. Door panels aren't cut for speakers, carpet is worn, floor mats in nice shape. I traded my '74 Alfa Spider for this car & am thoroughly happy with it. You've got a great site & I look forward to learning all about my 912 w/ help from all the 912 faithful out there. I'll send some pics as soon as I get a chance. Scott
C-K	6607	99 ML	John Thane	California	USA	I had looked for suitable "rust free" driver for a long time without success and decided to go the six cylinder route (911SC "Post Purchase Inspection) ....which turned into a financial nightmare restoring! But I never stopped looking for a 912 thinking that the prices will eventually go the way of the 356 and I might never be able to afford one if I hadn't found this great car. I knew of a dealer that specializes in 912's and somehow manages to find decent examples. After looking at this car during a one hour visit I had a PPI done this time! That's Pre-purchase inspection....in fact I had two before I committed to making an offer on the car! It turned out my car has rebuilt engine, transmission, brakes, "rust free" and a lot more. It has had one respray in original sand beige (that could stand to be redone) but it looks good now as is and I don't have to worry about rock chips and door dings. The drive home was a blast and the car handles amazingly well. I am already getting to know the car and and am finding it's amazingly light handling and fun to drive.Looking forward to my membership and learning how to take care of this awesome car! I still like my 6 cyl. but the beauty of this car is in its simplicity! I am really looking forward to meeting the northern California group and learning as much as I can about these great cars! In adittion have I mounted a external oil cooler, and better pipes for better breathing for my engine. Pluss I have orginal 14” Fuchs with 175/70 winther thyres, the engine is fitted with betther pipes that givs a 4-cam Carrera kinda sound. The car also has a a 5-speed transmittion.
