912 Registry Member Level!Christopher Woods California USA The story behind my 912: I was helping a coworker with her computer at her mountain trailer east of San Diego. Her husband comes home and says you want to see my Porsche? First I didn't believe him but I followed him outside anyway. Behind the trailer under a cover was an old white Porsche. He had bought the car at an auction in 2000 with a salvaged title, drove it for 2 years and parked it due to the fact that he felt bad driving it down his bumpy dirt road. The next month he asked me to help him sell the car online which I did but no one wanted the car for price of $5000, so he decided to keep it. Enter the 2007 wildfires, it burned everything they had to the ground except one thing; an old white Porsche. Knowing that they needed money I offered him $3500 and he excepted February 2008. Since then I've been restoring/enjoying it. Now white, used for touring; Interests: events, touring, technical, restoration, show, rallies, autocross, racing

C-K 68-6609-G 229 mi 912 Registry Member Level!Carl Henny California USA Still Original Color, Under repair/restoration.  As I am the original owner, I drove the car as a daily driver for the first 16 years, and somewhat more intermittently during the next 12 years. Car has not been operated nor driven for the last 8 years. I hope to complete the engine rebuild by next spring. I was very pleased to read about the 912 outing in the current issue [11/03]of Excellence Magazine. I did see your web site several years ago, but wasn’t sure what you were attempting. I am glad to find a group who care about the 912. I have very much enjoyed driving my 912 when it was running. I hope to join your outing in 2004.   During the Fall of 1995, I experienced a rod journal and bearing failure, I disassembled the engine and had the engine examined and re-machined as needed. Had the crank magnifluxed and the rod journal rebuilt. I have acquired all engine parts needed; including new solex split shaft carburetors, and am waiting for an open time to complete rebuilding the engine.

C-K  68-6603-G   912 Registry Member Level!Einar Petursson Maryland USA This particular 912 was stripped of its engine and sent out into the woods to live out the rest of its natural life, which we all know is not very long given the weather here on the east coast. It was doomed to a slow death, so I just had to save it. I have stripped the car to its shell and am repairing all those little holes and bad metal - RUST. There is much to be done, but overall it is still a solid car. The metal work should be completed soon. I will be needing an engine and have been searching for one. It looks like this car had been worked on before. The floor has been replaced and the numbers on the doors do not match the VIN #. Fenders do not have any numbers in the buckets, nor have I found any numbers on the hood or engine lid. I have a 1968 911T and a 1962 356B as well. Both cars have numbers that match - for fenders doors, hood and engine lid. No matter, I still like the 912. As a matter of fact I really like the early cars - 1965 to 1973 along with the 356's.

C-K 63-6605-L 150 ML Dominick DiMartino Hawai'i USA Dimartino's '67 912 in Hawai'iFound the 912 under an open covered barn owned by a man who was selling a Karmann Ghia I originally wanted to view.  I managed to find this '67 from a covered area bunking next to some roosters up in the stix of Kailua Hawai'i. The Ghia was wasted and the work too plenteous so I looked and the 912 and was hooked.  I have some restoration ahead of me.  Currently removed the interiors except the dash and will sand blast the interior and weld some new metal into the voids and then cover with POR-15 then have the new carpet installed by the professionals.  I ordered some 86mm big bore pistons and cylinders and will shortly intall them with a new set of dual weber 40's.  Can't wait.  Interests - Events, Touring, Technical, Restoration, Show
