C-P 6806 213 190 ML James Mullally Washington USA  Originally Irish Green, Now White, Now Restoring.  just need to dial in the carbs (webers) and do minor stuff. Installed an Electramotive distributorless ign. Never got it ot work right Very poor support from the vendor. Needed new coil for stock system, so got MSD box and coil. The stock resistor type rotors would have the resistors burn up. That and the limited adjustability of the bosch dists. made me go for the MSD distributor made for VW's. Compression is set low. Maestro cam. JAP P/C. Just wanted it to run about like stock. Interests-Technical, Restoration, Show; Technical Committee

912 Registry Member Level!Lucien Lewin West Virginia USA Lucien Lewin's '69 912 in West Virginia, USAI  drove past the 912 I now drive for about 10 years before the owner agreed to sell same to my wife as a surprise for me. We bought our ‘69 coupe about 5 years ago and just pulled it out of the garage (2007) and had engine overhauled (2008). It is sort of a 2d owner car as it was owned by a local physician who died and passed it on to his son who had it parked on route I passed on way home from work for about 10 years.  We have done some work on body, lot on engine and it is now a daily driver. Used to own a 60 B coupe purchased in Thousand Oaks California (1973) and sold in W.Va.  Our 69 is fun and a better driving car than the B Coupe, but miss the shape.  Our mechanic suggested and we put on some Vredstein 185 tires and they seem to hold very well. (They make bicycle tires also) Carbs are Webbers and giving me a little trouble with some popping and a soft spot just past initial acceleration but seem to work well under 1/3 to 2/3 throttle accelerating. Car original and body is good. Need to find someone to re-chrome wheels although caps are still good.  Replaced (mechanic arranged for) rubber around front and rear windows to keep out water as well as new rubber around trunk. Ran car over mountains a week ago and it ran cool enough but noticed that since muffler is just under back panel of engine that part gets hot while the cowling with fan and engine stays reasonably cool. Seal around engine is fairly good so not much hot air coming up from below.  Larger tires 185 vs. 165 (which are optional per original specs) seem to reduce rpm at same speed due to some increase in diameter. Daily driver;  Interests - Events, Touring, Technical, Restoration, Show,  Membership Committee
