I'll have some work done on the transmission this spring & use it for a summer driver; my first Porsche (I've had MG's and Triumphs before). Original exterior color Silver; car has been repainted, but apparently no rust. First owner, San Jose, CA. Second owner, Jacksonville Beach, FL. Needs some TLC & upgrades; will need interior parts including door panels, sun visors, a new headliner; dash has some cracks, but its in OK shape; engine was rebuilt & now has 8,000 miles & no leaks; new paint wasn't a great job, but adequate to protect the car. Some of the directional lens are cracked. Two problems deserving attention are a cracked exhaust manifold which was poorly welded. The other is the transaxle, sychro in second is worn & shifting is pretty rough. I will continue to drive, but want to begin looking. The question is whether to rebuild the 923/02 transaxle or retrofitting a newer model transaxle with an adapter for this engine? Anyone have any ideas or experience? Other modifications I am considering is retrofitting newer door panels w/ electric windows & mirrors. Existing door panels were fitted w/ (4) oversized speakers w/ grills. I lose some skin when I use the window cranks. Overall the car was exactly what I expected, bought it from a fellow 912 enthusiast that advertised the car in your "For Sale" section. My mission is to restore this to a great daily driver. Photo

The original owner traded it in for a 911 at the same dealership after 17K miles. The 2nd owner (from late 1977 to July 2006) used it as a company car and daily driver until he retired. He kept in very good condition. Engine was rebuilt in 1984 at 101k miles and car was repainted (originally dark green) to its current color (similar to ice green). It was used very little; touring Oregon during the summer months. Current mileage at 104k miles. I took proud ownership on the month of July 2006.; now in Seattle, Washington. used for touring. Such a fun driver.

C-P 08/75 R4R4 Paul Griffin Washington USA Paul Griffin's 912E in Washington, USA near the Canadian borderDorothy, my next door neighbor in CA bought this car new in 1976 when she turned 60, then proceeded to run it in autocross competition. I used to help her with routine maintenance when I was tuning my '67 Beetle, and we'd share stories of our air cooled cars. She became like an aunt to our family. She passed away in Feb. 09 and left me her beloved 912e, which got tied up for a year in paperwork. During that time we've replaced the interior (vacuumed enough dog hair out to make two full dogs), redone the rear speaker deck and speakers, added electronic ignition. We love this car. It purrs like a sewing machine and is a lot of fun to drive. It did originally have AC but that was removed when it failed. Motor was rebuilt in 2005 and had about 15k on it when I got the car. The interior of the car sure was a mess but its pretty like new now. I've also replaced the Bursch exhaust and added an MSD Street-Fire Ignition which is pretty inexpensive way to get a little more performance and better mpg. (documented here for anyone interested: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/project.php?issueid=15  ) I'm certainly interested in meeting and talking to more 912 owners so appreciate the info and will hope to see you at events in the PNW.
