Parting It Out 912s that gave their all....

Dr Jules's '67 912From: Jules Medina;  It's great to finaly be part of the team. Here is a photo of my 912 as I found it (minus the stripes). Yes! I found it abandoned on the side of a country road. The owner had passed away and the land owner was tired of seeing it on his property, so he pushed it out onto the road.  I saw it and a tear came to my eyes, how could someone be so cruel to this little 67 porsche? A rope, some air in the tires, and it was mine. Sadly the body was rusted beyond repair, but the power train, interior and lots of parts were original and had lots of promise. I salvaged a tub from Parts Heaven and am in the process of restoring 912 # 461898, with the donor parts from 912# 458789, R.I.P. I will send photos of the process soon. Thank all of you 912 owners for keeping the faith. Dr.Jules

From: Scott McLean;  Here is info on a complete 1967 912 I just bought. Though with a pan it might be salvagable, I'm going to take it apart and store away all the parts that will serve my 69, and offer up the rest to 65-67 912's via the Registry. Great site! Last four digits of the VIN: 462 298. Original Irish Green, painted red. Found stripped and primered for painting and body work w/ an owner that said "enough." All chrome/ windows/ decos/etc. removed and individually bagged.  Drivetrain intact & original. Rust in driver's front, passenger, rear, etc.  Overall the chassis may be reborn as a racer but the 67 will serve as an organ donor for my 69 912 where applicable and the rest will go to keep 65-67's on the road.

From: Nicholas F. Pasch; I just reviewed that PartsHeaven list of old cars, and the '76 912E #912600064 looks pretty much totaled.  A hard hit to the Driver's side door folded the chassis into a boomerang.  Very sad.  They claim that the motor is still ok. Best Regards, Nick Pasch

From: Rose, Revis PO;  Rick, Will you please post this to the registry. I appreciate the work your doing on the list. I worked on my project as long as I could, until it became obvious that my '66 was wasted. Rust is the cancer that kills more old cars than anything else. I'm in the process of removing all the valuables from hulk for use on my '68 911. I will keep your site on my favorites list but please remove my serial no. If I have anything of relevance to say on the early 901 coupes I'll   pass it on. Keep the Faith

From:  Josh Monesson;  Hi- Last night I was driving my '69 912 back from San Fransisco to Los Angeles.  While in in Ventuta County, an engine fire strated and ended up burning my car to a crisp. I always carry a fire extinguisher, but it was not strong enough.  I need to get rid of the car and would like to pass it on to someone who needs the donor car to help with their restoration, or needs a parts car for whatever reason. It does have a great 5-speed trans and '69 Alloys from a 911S. Any help would be appreciated. It can only sit for about 24 hours before being towed away to never never land. Thanks,  Josh Monesson 310.558.1958

From: Jim Mickowski;  I just parted out my faithful 1967 Porsche 912. Unfortunately the old girl died from a terminal case of underbody cancer. The good news is that many of her parts are looking for transplants. Its engine lives in my 1969 Targa but the 1969 Targa's engine needs a rebuild and is priced accordingly. If you need something anything, large or small, contact me.  She may have died so that your 912 can keep breathing. Keep the faith and long live the 912.  Jim Mukwonago, Wisconsin

Don Ruggiero's 912From: Brian Ruggiero;  I'm giving you this information on behalf of my uncle. Attached is a picture of his 1966 912 as it sits now. The engine started on fire many years ago, and it sat in my grandmothers back yard for as long as I can remember. Every time I went to see her I would ask my dad if we could restore it or at least take out the rest of the good parts. He told me that it was too far gone, and we never ended up parting it out until I got my own 912 and needed a few parts. My car has the transmission, washer bottle, and a few other parts from this car. The transmission sat on the ground in it up until 1997 when I took it out, cleaned it up, and put it in my car. It works great. It's unbelievable how well built and long lasting Porsche parts are....It's definitely not registered, but it should be accounted for.   Owner: Don Ruggiero , Connecticut, USA , 1966 Karmann Coupe, 460813 , Original exterior color #: 6608 , Any additional comments: R.I.P., Thanks Rick, Brian

From: DAVID LOVATO;  Dear Folks, Please note that PAP-Parts have recently e-mailed me concerning a late model 912E they have just bought for salvage and sale as parts. The car was hit right-front and the owner did not want to repair it.  It is therefor another 'lost' 912E but would account for one of the reportedly 2099 manufactured.
1976 912E VIN 9126001755
Can we place the car on the registry and just note it as an unrecoverable example? In time we may be able to account for most of the production run. In any case PAP has some 912E spares now!! No commercial connection with or affiliation to them- just passing the word! R/Dave Lovato '76 912E #9126000496, e-mailing from a wintry but sunny Antalya, Turkey.
