From: Ian Gunney;  I have recently had the whole interior of my 1966 912 retrimmed by a company in the UK called Southbound Motor Trimmers.  It has been completed to original spec - ie square weave carpet etc.  As yet I haven't cleaned it, but in the pst i have used products by Autoglym which have been really good.  However, I am not sure whether these are available in the US.   I look forward to reading what other people use to preserve there insides!

From: Johnflacey; Simple is optimal.   Electrolux, Windex, Flitz, Armor All.  Best regards, John L.

From: DAVID LOVATO; CLEAN ME!!  Hi, We owe this superb site a great deal!!  Thanks to our Web-parents for all the fun!!
Recently hit an armadillo in 9126000496 which resulted in a virtually perfect round dent on the front valance-  which got me thinking about paint, which got me cleaning and polishing after the trip!!  My 912E reflects the base-price origins of the model year with a vinyl tan interior, camel carpet and black pockets/etc.  Interior cleaning problems common to the car are vinyl haze on the rear window, and slight yellowing of the headliner.  I use two cleaners for the vinyl-  a citrus based 'cockpit cleaner' and ArmorAll (?) multi-purpose cleaner.  Follow up with Lexol Vinylex- which is supposed to be pretty effective in the sunscreen dept.  I use P21S window wipes, and an alcohol based window spray both of which clean the 'fog' pretty well.  For the (few) leather bits-n-pieces I use KIWI Saddle Soap.  I do clean and wax the door-jams and bits-o-painted car that meet the inside with a less expensive carnuba wax- either Maguiar's (?) Gold paste or the P21S Concours Wax.  The outside gets the Zymol.

I try to keep it pretty clean, but the interior carpet on the rear seatbacks has faded a bit, and I'm looking at either replacing or re-dying the panels.   Most of the other interior parts are in excellent shape otherwise-  a tribute to the OE suppliers tasked with providing a 'less expensive' interior.
